With exquisite attention to detail, the house has been beautifully renovated. The secret garden boasts a private slipway, a boat house and for those arriving by yacht, Ropehawn has its own deepwater mooring. "The Sea Room" at Ropehawn sleeps two and is also available to rent together with the main house. This is a very special retreat.

A Farrow & Ball coastal palate works perfectly as a backdrop to the stunning views of the sea from every window. Ropehawn has been lovingly renovated with subtle interior flair. The style is very much vintage (think aged leather not shabby chic). Original artworks, gilded mirrors, faded nautical charts and bulging bookshelves of the old classics; linens and soft creamy cotton fabrics, sea grass rugs and stripped wooden floors. The sitting room, dining room, walk-in larder, smaller kitchen and separate utility room are all on the ground floor; each room within the living space flows through into the next.
The kitchen isn't enormous for a house of this size however it does have a walk in larder which leads down to a utility room, so there is plenty of space for storage. The dining room adjacent looks out over the bay and has a big ornate range cooker (for looking at, not cooking on). We can happily arrange for a private chef to prepare meals in advance if you would rather not do a lot of cooking on holiday.
On the first floor there are three double bedrooms, two of which have ensuite wet rooms. There is also a family bathroom with relaxing slipper bath. The Victoriana inspired attic bedroom is perfect for children with two single beds.
The property has three bathrooms, two of which are en suite and a separate loo on the ground floor.
The enclosed grassy courtyard has a giant picnic table for al fresco feasting as well as a built in BBQ for lazy summer evenings. The garden has a secret garden door leading out through a stone wall on to the slip way and the naturally forming rock pool. Wild swimming at its very best! The Sea Room at Ropehawn has access via a gate to the lower part of the garden to use the garden door which leads out onto the quay.
Arriving by boat is by far the nicest way to approach Ropehawn which has a private slip-way for your use. If you are arriving by car Ropehawn has private parking for up to 4 cars above the property.
Please be aware that between your retreat and your private parking space is Cornwall Wildlife Trust woods and a steep, uneven and sometimes muddy footpath which can make carrying luggage difficult and you may have to make a few trips with your belongings. We can arrange for someone to meet and accompany you and your bags down to Ropehawn, but if you are arriving late please do be aware that sturdy footwear and torches are a must.
Ropehawn is fully WiFi ready, so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.
Two dogs are very welcome. We charge £30 per dog per week or short break.
