Fifteen Cornwall, Watergate Bay
Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall is delicious food, with a feel good factor. Almost ‘carved’ into the cliffs that line Watergate Bay, you’re treated to an unparalleled view of the beach and sea. It is the unique blend of exceptional edibles, awesome location and inspiring dedication to making a difference to young’uns that sets Jamie Oliver’s joint apart.
The menu changes daily, sometimes twice a day because Andy sources as much as he can locally.
Although Jamie Oliver’s name is on the door, it is Head Chef Andy Appleton that is the driver behind the excellent reputation for great food. With a focus on bold, bright and seasonally-inspired Italian dishes your meal is a foodie journey packed with provenance.
So, what to expect? Well a fresher than fresh menu. The team at Fifteen meets in The Garage [the private dining room at Fifteen] early doors to discuss the menus for the day. The menu changes daily, sometimes twice a day because Andy sources as much as he can locally; every so often the produce simply runs out – so they have to change the menu.
The menu itself will entirely depend on what has come in that morning; fish for example is very unpredictable; the storms yesterday mean no fish on the menu today. It’s a simple as that. Because of their buying policy they source as much as they possibly can in Cornwall. The delicious Bre-Pen Farm’s Lamb literally grazes on the fields above the restaurant.
This amazing approach to menu-planning means that you are guaranteed creative and delicious Vive Italia style fodder that oozes freshness. It’s always worth booking a table for lunch or supps too.
All the profits from Fifteen Cornwall go to its registered charity, Cornwall Food Foundation and together they manage the award-winning Apprentice Programme.
