Think Deep South-style fried rabbit with celeriac and apple slaw and a spicy chipotle sauce.....
It is a large, light and bright space with floor to ceiling windows and an open kitchen, think classic brasserie meets coastal cool. The stylish interiors are up there with the quality of the food with reeded glass, leather nooks, zinc refectory tables and black and white chevron tiles.
Neil has made a name for himself in Cornwall as the go-to chef for instructive demos, modern Cornish Americana style cooking and delicious menus. His 46 years of cooking, travelling and eating has inspired the boundary-pushing Zacry’s making it a hip and forward-thinking restaurant which is strongly influenced by contemporary American dining and a relaxed vibe.
‘We wanted to mix things up a bit’, which applies to the concept, the interiors and to the cooking. Think Deep South-style fried rabbit with celeriac and apple slaw and a spicy chipotle sauce followed by Fiorentina steak for two, with vegetables and Cornish potatoes.
Unusually salads are a key focus on the menu. This is an especially delightful surprise (and brings back fond memories of Phat! in Vancouver – if you’re downtown head there for epic salad options). Don’t assume that the sales section is for the lonely dieters bravely struggling on post January resolutions. The menu has a hearty and punchy array of lettuce based dishes which look beautiful to the eye and taste delicious to the tum.
Creatively coupling the menu choices with ‘What we’re drinking’ cocktail menu, presumably not whilst operating a deep-fat-fryer, makes for a delightfully indulgent experience. Once crammed with interesting food, dirty drinking and those fantastic views of the bay.
