Frome Independent Market

Frome Independent Market

From hand raised pies to sushi and lampshades to tea towels, this incredible market is a must-do if you’re in the vicinity of Frome on the first Sunday of the month. Established in 2013, this markets’ misson is to showcase all that’s best about independent produce and makers in the area with a splattering of music and visual arts thrown into the mix.

Living up to the motto ‘There’s no place like Frome’ (we like a town with a sense of humour), this market really showcases how many independent traders are in the area. Take a meander through the pretty streets of St Catherine’s district, Cheap Street, Scott Road and the old Market Yard where you can pick up anything from a vintage suitcase to a bison burger and listen to the live music as you go. Apparently there’s even a mobile vinyl-only disco that bangs out tunes from an old laundry truck, so you never know what you might stumble across.

This is a community event that the town is really proud of, and the buzziness is really catching – with its aim of reclaiming the high street from the massive nondescript chains which seem to be making our towns all look the same, it seems to be winning here in Frome.
