Trevaskis Farm started life as a ‘pick your own’ fruit farm with 28 acres of land packed with seasonal fruit and veg, where you can pick anything from loganberries to beans and raspberries to peas – depending on the season, obviously!
The restaurant is amazing, jam-packed with locally sourced goodies (the bacon, hogs pudding and sausages for breakfast are all made on site). Breakfast is served 8.30 – 10.30am, lunch from 12pm and evening meals from 6pm. The Trevaskis Sunday roasts are incredible, and the puddings divine – make sure to arrive with a huge appetite.
Don’t forget to visit the pigs (and extra cute piglets), cows, goats, donkey and geese too – you might need a pair of wellies if the weather is a bit wet! Children will love this bit as the animals don’t mind being stroked and more often than not you’ll have a gang of squealing piglets running up to you.
The farm shop is packed full of local delights, with a butcher and fishmonger on sight as well as plenty of local cheeses, breads, cakes, choccies and locally brewed beer, wine and cider to choose from. There’s great quality fruit and veg too if you don’t have time to pick your own. Make sure to stock up on goodies to take back to your retreat!
If you’re about at the beginning of October, make sure to pop by as their annual Apple Day takes place usually on the first weekend of the month. This is a brilliant day out with loads of activities such as pick your own pumpkin, apple tasting, apple pressing (for juice and cider), hog roast and lots of local producers selling their wares. Arrive early as it gets very busy!
