A tranquil rural location close to the sandy beaches and marinas of Falmouth and the cathedral city of Truro; perfect for days out on the water, nights out in town or toes up in front of a toasty wood burner.
Living and eating
The beautifully furnished open plan living room is accessed from the wooden deck that looks out over the garden, great for evening meals as the sun sets over fields beyond. With a high beamed ceiling, big comfy corner sofa facing the wood burner and iPod dock, Smart TV, BluRay DVD player and unlimited WiFi, you have everything you need to unwind and relax. The kitchen area has contemporary gloss white units, granite work surfaces, Neff appliances and plenty of storage while the minimalist glass dining table and Phillippe Starck 'Victoria Ghost' chairs add a touch of sophistication.
The bedroom is on the lower ground floor, looking out over a cobbled courtyard and gardens. There are plantation shutters at the windows, under floor heating (the lovely eco conscious Owners have invested in both an air source heat pump and photovoltaic solar panels), clever storage and a superbly comfortable king size bed with soft Egyptian cotton bed linens.
The fabulous shower room has a double size walk-in shower with a big monsoon shower head. Under floor heating and a large heated towel rail make this a luxuriously warm room and ambient lighting sets the scene to relax.
Deck and Garden
There is a big wooden deck outside the living room with a garden area beyond. The deck has sun from mid morning to sunset and is fabulous for sunbathing, outside dining and sundowners. Beyond the dedicated parking area is a huge level meadow - almost an acre - bordered by trees on one side and a woodland hedge on the other, offering widespread countryside views and ample space to throw down a picnic rug, linger with a book or just relax and unwind to the sounds of birds and bees.
Little Chygowlin is fully WiFi ready, so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.
This is one of our pet free properties.
The cottage is reached along a quarter mile field track, a little bumpy in places so drive slowly to avoid bouncing! There is parking for a car close to the cottage and the pathway to the deck and front door is lit by sensor lights at dark.
The property is within a few miles of the King Harry car ferry which offers easy access to the Roseland Peninsula including St Mawes. Superb sailing facilities are a few miles away at Mylor Harbour and Falmouth plus the property is five minutes away from Killiow Golf Club. Bring your mountain bikes to enjoy The Bissoe Trail which starts nearby and runs along an old tramway between Devoran on the south coast and Porthtowan on the north coast. By prior arrangement with the Owners, bicycles can be stored in the nearby boathouse. Little Chygowlin is perfectly placed to explore both coasts and is only a short distance from some of the best restaurants in Cornwall.
"Little Chygowlin is a beautiful place to stay, the attention to detail and finish of the accommodation is excellent. LC as the owners refer to it, is an ideal location from which to discover Southern Cornwall's most picturesque coastal villages, towns and attractions, and when you're finally spent at the end of a long day, you can sip a chilled glass of something on the deck, or cosy up in front of the wood burner. Being welcomed with all the necessary ingredients for a cream tea and a bottle of fizz chilling in the fridge was a lovely touch" - May 2015
"A perfect retreat- we did not want to leave! The owner went the extra mile by decorating the cottage with birthday decorations as a surprise for my fiancé!" - July 2015
"Little Chygowlin really exceeded my expectations. The pictures do not do justice to it's surronding area. It is in a fantastic spot and the attention to detail that has gone in to it's design is fantastic. It is also in a great spot to see very different areas of Cornwall.Hope to revisit in the future" - July 2015
"Perfect! Just perfect! We booked it for a romantic New Years break and it was everything we hoped for! The owners were great, they left us a bottle of champagne and mince pies on arrival which kicked off our stay in style! We saw them briefly and they were really welcoming and kind! We were so sad to leave and would book it again in a heartbeat!" - December 2015
