The Old Pilchard Press is a lovely fisherman's cottage that has a special place in the heart of Boutique Retreats - it was one of our very first properties all those years ago, and we're super-pleased to welcome it back into the fold. Hidden away from the busyness of popular Mousehole, it's still just a minutes' walk to the harbour and all the great shops and places to eat and drink. Cosy, romantic, stylish and adorable, this is a bolt hole for those seeking privacy but still wanting the closeness of amenities and the seaside.
Taking a semi upside-down approach, the living area can be found upstairs. Simply decorated with whitewashed walls and wooden floors, the space has been snugly filled with a sumptuous, extremely comfortable leather sofa and matching chair which cluster around the fab wood burning stove. Decor is naturally nautical, with the addition of a gorgeous film-style lamp and great artwork completing the look. This is a room for snuggling up in after a breezy coastal walk and dinner at 2 Fore Street, the amazing restaurant just a short walk away. Bliss!
Walk through the front door and you'll immediately find yourself in the super-sweet kitchen. Dominated by the huge stainless steel range with 6 gas hobs, this is a kitchen for enthusiasts and professional cooks alike: well equipped with Dualit, Kitchenaid and German appliances, you'll not want for anything. There's even a vintage Robert's radio to boogie along to when creating a storm in (chefs' hat optional). Tucked away in the corner is a lovely little dining table with baby blue seating - perfectly made for romantic dinners for two (and lunches, and lazy breakfasts...).
The gorgeous bedroom is tucked away upstairs. The lovely wooden sleigh bed is ready to take you to the land of nod, whilst simple and calming finishing touches in sea blues and creams makes this a dreamy delight. We love the underwater stained glass window too.
Hidden away downstairs, there's a beautiful, freestanding, roll top bath for two waiting, with a gorgeous pebbled and spacious walk in shower for when you want to wash the sea and sand away. There's also a heated towel rail to keep towels warm and fluffy and plenty of space to store bits and pieces.
The Old Pilchard Press has a lovely decked courtyard out back leading from the kitchen, complete with a turquoise wrought-iron table and chairs for a spot of al fresco dining. Bedecked with lights and completely enclosed, this is a lovely, romantic private outside space to enjoy the Cornish sunshine.
The quayside car parks are just a minutes' walk away, whilst there is a larger car park at the entrance to the village and there is free parking on the approach to the village too.
The Old Pilchard Press is fully WiFi ready so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.
The Old Pilchard Press will accept two well behaved dogs. We charge £30 per dog per week or short break.
