Soft greys and whites on the walls, New England shutters, natural slate floors and oak blends with chrome in this open plan luxury cottage in Cornwall. A roll-top bath stands alone in the loft-style bedroom upstairs.
Airy, open planned and flooded with natural light, The Old Stores is just the place to call home after a day on the beach or a blowy coastal walk - a perfect seaside homestay for a couple just wanting to escape from the 9-5. Comfortable sofas, deckchair stripped cushions, mohair rugs and pale grey walls work perfectly with reclaimed oak packing box tables. Original and local artworks and carefully thought out furnishings really highlight the attention to detail in this retreat. The dining area separates the galley-style kitchen from the sitting room. Mind you, with the award winning restaurant 2 Fore Street next door, you have the perfect excuse to eat out.
The kitchen is fully equipped and although open plan, all mod cons are cleverly integrated out of sight, out of mind including a dishwasher, microwave, washer dryer and an American style fridge freezer... not forgetting the gorgeous black granite tops, oak bespoke cupboards and a dual fuel oven with a gas hob.
The whole of the upstairs is opened up to the beams to create a wonderful boutique loft-style bedroom. A king-sized bed, a double roll-top bath (flood lit with tiny floor lights), New England white wooden shutters and take a closer look at the flooring, it's made from reclaimed fruit and wine crates, a subtle nod to the retreat's past as the store room for the village shop!
Just in case you hadn't already heard, the roll-top bath sits in the bedroom! Downstairs you will find a separate bathroom with loo, sink and walk in rainforest shower.
The Old Stores has a small private paved courtyard area with a bistro set for outside dining or a morning coffee. The sandy beach is two minutes' walk from the cottage so you can be sat on the beach or the harbour wall in no time.
The quayside car parks are a moments' walk away, there is a larger car park at the entrance to the village and there is free parking on the approach to the village as well.
The Old Stores is fully WiFi ready so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.
A dog is very welcome. We charge £30 per dog per week or short break.
The cottage is next door to 2 Fore Street, an award winning restaurant with a Raymond Blanc trained chef. The restaurant will happily deliver meals if you'd like to spend a lazy night in together, details are in the cottage. You may occasionally hear the restaurant at busy times.
