Lowen (Cornish for 'happy') boasts both rolling countryside vistas and breathtaking views towards the water and by having a reversed layout, it certainly makes the most of them. This luxury retreat is just down the road from Padstow and Rock, so you're near great beaches such as Daymer Bay, Constantine Bay and Tregirls Beach and of course some fabulous eateries. Or, if you fancy a day at home, you can lounge in the heated outdoor pool or laze on the upper deck with a drink in hand, watching the glorious views in front of you.

Living

The open-plan living space overlooks the pool to the glorious rolling hills, sea and the picturesque village of Rock beyond through floor-to-ceiling windows which can be opened up during warmer weather to bring the outside in. A corner sofa in soft grey leather means everyone can sprawl out and watch a film on the flat screen TV/DVD player - perfect to curl up on after a day in the pool with a hot chocolate in hand! With a huge wood burner and under floor heating throughout, it means you'll stay nice and cosy too. Lowen has a Sky package and a SONOS system, plus a permanent oak stairgate fitted at the top of the stairs. Outside there's a terrace with seating and dining table so you can make the most of that view, whilst steps lead down to the private pool just for you and your brood (or just for the two of you - perfect!).

Eating

The kitchen at Lowen is fully equipped with everything a chef might need. Cool Farrow & Ball white painted cabinets and black granite worktops await you, plus a full array of Cornishware. With a six ring gas hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher you're sure to cook up a storm and there's a Nespresso coffee machine too. There's a utility room downstairs with a freezer and washer dryer. In the dining area there's a chunky oak table which seats 6 comfortably, whilst outside you'll find everything you need to dine al fresco on sunny days. Trevear Farm produce their own meat, which is available to buy on site.

Sleeping

Choose from three sumptuous bedrooms where you can be guaranteed a good night's sleep.

Bedroom 1 with super-king size bed and en suite bathroom with freestanding bath and separate shower. Bedroom 2 with zip and link bed (6' super-king or twin beds) and use of family bathroom with freestanding bath and separate shower. Bedroom 3 with super-king size bed, dressing room and use of family bathroom with freestanding bath and separate shower.

Bathing

Lowen has a fabulous family bathroom with deep freestanding bath to sink into and separate walk in shower. There is a luxurious shower-room plus a changing room off of the living area so you don't have to go downstairs to your bedrooms to change. Bedroom 1 has an en suite bathroom; in total there are three bath/shower-rooms to three bedrooms, the perfect ratio!

Baby friendly

Lowen is a baby friendly property providing a travel cot (bring your own bedding), highchair and permanent stairgate, plus a microwave bottle steriliser and plastic crockery/cutlery. On request a bath seat and plug socket guards can be provided, do request these at the time of booking.

Outside space

A large terrace in front of the living area means you'll have plenty of space to laze around on sunny afternoons. Enjoy the wonderful heated swimming pool (temperature dependent on weather conditions and available from Easter to the end of September), complete with sunloungers and outdoor shower. Take the steps up the side of the retreat where you'll find a raised seating area, perfect for gazing at the far reaching view to the Camel estuary whilst enjoying a sundowner or two. There are extensive grounds with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside (one lawned area shared with Rock View). The retreats are set down a quiet lane in a very small hamlet.

WiFi

Lowen has WiFi, so if you need to get in touch with the outside world you can.

Dogs

Two dogs are very welcome. There are no dog restrictions on Old Town Cove or Dennis Cove which are in walking distance from the house. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

Parking

There is parking for up to three cars available.

Exploring

There's plenty to do in this fantastic area - Old Town Cove lies at the bottom of the lane which leads on to the Camel Trail where cyclists and walkers enjoy the fantastic scenery along the estuary. In approximately 45 minutes you can walk into Padstow, loved by such chefs as Rick Stein, Nathan Outlaw and Paul Ainsworth and is perfect for a bite to eat, or hop on the boat and pop over to Rock, frequented by the likes of Prince Harry and his pals for even more culinary choices and maybe a trip to Sharp's, Rock's very own brewery.

The house stands on the edge of a small hamlet found along a quiet farm lane leading down to the Camel Estuary and in the other direction to the village of St. Issey and two public houses. The Camel Estuary, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a lovely spot and full of pathways to explore by foot or by bike (which you can hire at Padstow) alongside the water or through the stunning dunes. The Sir John Betjeman Walk is particularly beautiful, or just take to The Camel Trail. If water is more your thing, there's a plethora of watersports or if you'd like to try your hand at fishing, there's fishing trips to be booked from Ferry point at Rock where you can catch mackerel, bass and even shark. Beach-wise, you're spoilt for choice with seven located around the Padstow area and one across the way at Rock. If you've brought your golf clubs, there's St Endodoc and Trevose nearby too.

Uncover a luxury dog friendly retreat with blissful views towards the Camel estuary and a fabulous outdoor space, complete with a heated outdoor swimming pool.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Lowen:

The farm tour is a must, really enjoyed Sam taking us around and educating us on the farm. Also, try the produce. The bacon is THE best we have ever had. Loved everything about this place and will definitely recommend and return.

We had a wonderful two weeks at Lowen in spite of the rain. Rachel and Sam were truly excellent hosts - generous and thoughtful to a tee. We will definitely be booking again.
