This incredible retreat is not only exceptionally pretty but also has parts dating back to the 17th century. Its intriguing history is still very much alive - beneath Tregonce lie smugglers' tunnels to Petherick Creek and there's an unexplained void underneath the dining room big enough to hide a horse and cart! Smugglers and booty aside, Tregonce is a fabulous farmhouse and perfect for larger family gatherings or a group of friends. Sleeping ten, there's plenty of space inside and a huge garden too. It has oodles of charm too; so much so that the current owners, who originally lived there years ago and then sold it, did all they could to buy it back because they missed it so much.
Tregonce Farm has two spacious living areas to relax and unwind in, both equally a homage to local designers with exquisite furniture and soft furnishings. The first lounge boasts deep, comfy sofas in rich earthy tones clustered around the magnificent wood burner - perfect for long evenings filled with conversation and a drink or two. The beamed ceilings, whitewashed walls and soft, thick carpet ooze cosiness and there's a small study leading off of the room for those needing to catch up with emails or curl up with a book. The second living area is much more modern in design with a definite Scandi feel - this is the place to catch up on your favourite series or hunker down for a film. The light wooden flooring, brightly coloured sofas and soft furnishings give a very different ambience and there are French windows which lead out onto the patio. Above the garage you'll find a games room complete with pool table, table football and a cocktail bar.
There's a fabulous country kitchen waiting for you, with Cornish flagstone flooring, Aga, cream cabinets, wooden work surfaces and lovely metro-style tiles. There's plenty of equipment for the kitchen connoisseur and even a table for four should you want an impromptu get-together whilst preparing your feasts. The dining room is just off the kitchen and is fabulously well-appointed with a chunky reclaimed dining table, wooden flooring, stunning copper light and plenty of wine coolers to ensure the wine is kept flowing!
The five super-gorgeous bedrooms are upstairs, each individually designed and exceptionally comfortable with Hypnos mattresses. All rooms have views of the garden and most have views of the Camel Estuary with an en suite master king size bedroom, a further king, a double and two further bedrooms that can be made up as twins or doubles, one of which has a 'Jack and Jill' en suite (one door leading to the bedroom and the other from the hall) and secret spiral staircase. The hardest decision you'll make this holiday is which room to have! Please note that as the house is very old the hallway upstairs does slope somewhat so taller people should mind their heads.
Bedroom 1 with king size bed and en suite shower-room. Bedroom 2 with king size bed and use of family bathroom(s). Bedroom 3 with double bed and use of family bathroom(s). Bedroom 4 with zip and link (5' double or 2'6" twin beds) and use of family bathroom(s). Bedroom 5 with zip and link (5' double or 2'6" twin beds) and use of family bathroom(s).
There's plenty of choice with an en suite shower room for the master bedroom, whilst the 'Jack and Jill' en suite has a bath with a fitted shower over the bath and there's a further family bathroom which also has a bath and overhead shower with lovely Fired Earth tiles. There's lots of hot water for baths and showers after a day out exploring and heated towel rails to ensure towels are toasty warm.
You'll not want for outside space with a lawn (perfect for family games) with views down to Camel Estuary, a patio with table and benches for a spot of al fresco dining, barbeque, hammocks and deck chairs for lazing away a sunny afternoon and a super-cute shower (made using a watering can as the shower head) providing hot and cold water to wash away the sand after a day at the beach plus a small cottage garden at the rear of the house.
There's plenty of parking outside of Tregonce Farm.
Two dogs are very welcome. We charge £30 per week or short break. There are no dog restrictions on Old Town Cove or Dennis Cove which are in walking distance from the house.
Tregonce Farm has WiFi so if you need to get in touch with the outside world you can.
The house is ideally located to explore the north Cornish coastline and you can walk to Padstow in about 25 minutes along the Camel Trail. The Camel Estuary is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has plenty of pathways to explore by foot and bike. If you're looking for water sports there are plenty of options available from water skiing to mackerel fishing. You've plenty of choice when it comes to beaches with the Padstow (Constantine Bay, Harlyn Bay, etc) and Rock (Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock itself) beaches being about equal distance from you - about 15-20 minutes by car. For golf-lovers there's St Endodoc and Trevose nearby.
