This is a homestay with a difference. Built over 200 years ago as part of a brewery, The Malthouse maintains its antiquated exterior but step inside and you'll find a light-filled, chic modern retreat for those who love their space minimal and with a hint of fun (make sure to say hello to the permanent resident, Pietro the cactus). Set in the heart of pretty Kingsbridge (the town centre is a two minute amble up the road) and with the stunning south Devon coast and Salcombe a fifteen minute drive away, The Malthouse is a fabulous spot for couples, families or a group of friends to get together.
Living

You'll find the open-plan living area on the mezzanine level, overlooking the kitchen below. This ultra-cool space has slick black wooden flooring, deep grey and comfortable sofas, soft cotton rugs, Smart TV with Netflix and a Sonos system. A huge Velux window lets in loads of light and makes for a really sociable, relaxed space. Pietro's Room (named after the resident cactus) is a fabulous extra space leading off of the living area and comes complete with vintage record player and records - perfect for relaxing or curling up with a good book.

Eating

Set on the first floor, the kitchen and dining area is an incredible space with sleek concrete flooring (there is underfloor heating throughout the house), black cabinets and worktops, asymmetric tiling and a great kitchen table with benches to match. There's an electric Neff oven and five ring gas hob, dishwasher and Kitchenaid mixer included in the well-supplied kitchen so if you're in the mood to rustle up a feast, you can. The kitchen has floor-to-ceiling windows at one end which fold back so you can step out onto the courtyard for summertime dining. At the other end there's a comfy leather sofa for mid-prep chats.

Sleeping

There are two fabulous bedrooms at The Malthouse, both on the first floor. The master bedroom offers a light and spacious sleeping area with three windows. Polished concrete flooring, king size bed, walk in wardrobe and en suite bathroom makes this a lovely spot to unwind in at the end of the day and there's an open staircase which leads to Pietro's room above. The second bedroom is also king size but offers a more cosy space with dove grey walls and a low-lying window. There's a cot available should you be bringing along your baby, whilst Pietro's room can also be used as an additional sleeping space for young ones as there are two single beds. Please note that Pietro's room and the master bedroom are linked by a staircase which is not separated by a door so the rooms run into each other.

Bathing

The master bedroom has an en suite shower room whilst the family bathroom has a luxuriously huge bath for long, deep soaks after a day out exploring.

Outside space

Leading off from the kitchen through the glass doors is a walled, fully enclosed, first floor courtyard for an afternoon in the sun or an al fresco meal or two. There's also a courtyard located by the entrance into The Malthouse which is flooded by the afternoon and evening sunshine. There's a fire pit too for extra warmth of an evening plus a storeroom with surfboards and bucket and spades for beachy days out.

Parking

There is a private parking space just around the corner from the house suitable for a medium sized car.

WiFi

The Malthouse has WiFi, so if you need to get in touch with the outside world you can.
