Just a short walk from your heavenly retreat uncover The Maltsters Arms in Tuckenhay, a relaxed riverside pub just perfect for a tipple or delicious dining. A little further, yet still a short stroll from your retreat, lies The Watermans Arms, a characterful 17th century pub with oodles of charm.

Watermark is set just a short drive from the lovely, historic market town of Totnes. This unique hub boasts plenty to see and do, from its many independent shops for a little retail therapy, inspiring art galleries for afternoon strolling and The Curator Coffee for a restful latte moment. Uncover this town's historic past at Totnes Castle, the Guildhall and Dartington Hall or head to nearby Dartmouth where there's so much to discover. On the water

For the seekers of thrills on the water, you can launch your own kayaks and SUP's from the retreat's private quay steps or just swim out into the creek at high tide. Sit on kayaks and SUPs can also be hired from Totnes Kayaks or Paddle Shack based in Stoke Gabriel. We would advise pre-booking and in quieter times they will deliver kayaks to Quay Place. Canoe Adventures also offer dragon boat excursions from the Maltsters launch area, including trips to Dittisham, Creekside camp fires and many more activities.

The creek is tidal, so does dry for around an hour and a half either side of low tide, giving mud flats with a wealth of bird life to watch. Bring your binoculars!

Don your walking boots to explore further along Bow Creek towards the River Dart, uncover Charleycombe Woods near Cornworthy or venture to National Trust's Crownley Woods across the stepping stones near Bow Bridge. We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Watermark:

It was an amazing stay every thing we could possibly need was catered for The view was lovely it was so relaxing

Perfect location, fantastic views of the river and a pub next door, what's not to love! It had everything we needed and more.

Fantastic stay

Watermark was beautiful and certainly lived up to our expectation and hopes. Very well equipped, comfy beds and lovely big dressing gowns and towels. The clean fresh decor gave a calm and restful atmosphere and even the dotting of lovely candles (which we used thank you!) was really special. The moment we walked in we felt our every day stresses go. The views are stunning and watching the wildlife was a perfect way to chill. We will definitely be back :-)

Beautiful property that felt more like a home than a rental. Lots of really lovely extra touches such as coffee machine, blender, lamps, scented candles… Everything was of a high quality & we appreciated having good quality crockery, cutlery & glasses. All in a peaceful setting with a lovely view.

It's a really magical place. The perfect spot to unwind.

Beautiful retreat, exactly as described, beautifully presented. Would highly recommend.

This is the best retreat we have ever stayed at. We had the most amazing few days, we felt like we didn't need to leave, and loved exploring the local area. The river view is unbelievable and the owners and hosts could not have been more accommodating to us. It was the perfect break in the perfect location.

More spacious than the pictures suggest, this was an absolute joy and a beautiful location. Total tranquility.

Yes it was an excellent retreat. Wonderful location overlooking the water. Interior was great as was the decking area.

Stunning location, very comfortable property and wonderful views, couldn’t ask for more! We will definitely be returning

Really lovely stay. Beautiful location and wonderful accommodation. Food at the pub next door is delicious! Thoroughly recommend.

It was so peaceful and set in a lovely location.

This property is really special and the location is amazing. If there was a six star rating this deserves it.

Watermark is a stunning place to stay and we particularly loved the views over the water and the stylish interior. Spotlessly clean and fabulous living spaces inside and out.

We had a fabulous few days at Watermark and would thoroughly recommend the property as a fantastic base. The views are stunning and the interior very special.

Oh what a fabulous apartment. Incredibly comfortable. Great beds and bedding. Comfy bathrobes. No expense spared. And the views......sublime. Just amazing to watch the sun coming up, sounds of ducks and geese in the background. An absolute must place to stay.

Luxurious and unusual. Amazing watching a kingfisher as we ate our lunch. Highly recommend

Fabulous in every sense.

Beautiful family property.

Really well equipped and comfortable property in a truly delightful setting. There was nothing we could really have wanted.

We had a fabulous time in this stunning location. What a well-equipped treasure hidden in this secret part of Devon. A truly memorable stay - flowers and wine helped enhance the birthday celebrations and family time together. Thank you!

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, everything was thought about and the accommodation was perfect. Would highly recommend and return.

As above: Stunning views and an exceptionally comfortable retreat. The kitchen and living spaces had everything we needed to feel at home, and spacious enough to allow all of us to relax without being on top of one another. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property.

Fantastic property - one of the best we have been to. Location is excellent, property superbly equipped. Dream location. Watermark is difficult to leave - and wonderful to come back to!

Beautiful setting and fully equipped with all you could need and more

Watermark is fabulous. It’s set in a gorgeous location and beautifully fitted out. It’s the perfect location for walks, going to the beach or just sitting and watching the wildlife - including a seal catching fish right underneath us - from the terrace. We loved it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Watermark. The views are stunning and there is always something new happening on the river. The stillness of the early morning with its amazing reflections on the water and the sound of cattle and sheep was divine. Thank you to the owners for thinking of everything to make our stay so perfect. From the dog cupboard to the decaf tea and olive oil. The kitchen is so well equipped! We enjoyed a great BBQ on the decking. The apartment is an absolute gem, we hope to return!

Quality location, quality accomodation, and quality furniture and equipment. Really loved the place and will be back! The whole experience was just perfection.

Stunning location, owners had thought of everything & perfect family getaway. Lots of lovely dog walks on the doorstep.

Watermark is magical. The fabulous views down the river from the sofa and the moving riverscape from the kitchen window will just melt away any stress. It's a fabulous location with lots of country walks along the river or even into Totnes which is an hour away if you feel like a good walk. It was extremely comfortable with a chic cool contemporary style. Thank you to the owners for the great nibbles and for introducing us to Sharpham wines. Sharpham have just relocated to a smart new venue close by and we are looking forward to trying out more of their wines and cheese next time we are down. Checking to see when Watermark is available again!

To be able to cook, eat and rest within sight of the ever changing and fascinating tidal river means this is a really unique and special place. Come rain or shine it doesn't matter. Add in superb quality of fixtures and equipment and it's just a lovely, perfect retreat.

What a magical place; there was a wow factor as soon as we opened the door. Beautiful place with an amazing setting. We liked it so much my husband wanted to move in!

Watermark more than met our expectations. We were blessed with fantastic weather for the time of year also. However we found it a great place to do simply nothing but relax. The facilities were excellent and of high quality.

You have a beautiful home and a perfect escape. Special mentions for the Maltsters Arms, dinner at the Durant Arms, discovering the stort of Shapton Sands and all the lovely places we visited.

fab place to stay- a well equipped flat/cottage with stunning views

Beautiful property in a stunning location. So nice to come back to after a day's sightseeing. Lovely sense of space & tranquillity. The perfect antidote to London.

A fantastic cottage. Beautifully situated. Amazing views! Also extremely well appointed, with loads of very thoughtful features, such as fragrant candles and an umbrella.

We have had a lovely time at Watermark. Exploring the area but always happy to come back at the end of the day to watch the river. Loved it!

Beautifully renovated and decorated and amazing location to explore the Dart River valley for a week. We loved sitting on the deck or in the living room watching the tides come in and go out and spotting birds, lighting a fire and just hanging out. Even cooking didn't feel like too much of a chore! Would love to come back here for another stay.
