Nestled in the pretty little Somerset town of Bruton, Ropewalk is a tucked-away lovely cottage that offers a peaceful escape from everyday life. As soon as you walk through the ancient wooden door, you know you're somewhere special with lots of history and bags of original features which the owner has lovingly preserved. Ropewalk takes an upside-down living approach with the bedroom and bathroom downstairs and the kitchen, living area and outdoor space upstairs to make the most of the sunny location. Because of its age, Ropewalk has quite low ceilings in the master bedroom and bathroom which is all part of its historic charm! Please note that the cottage is adjoining the owners' garden and they have children and dogs.
Special 'Just for Two' rate

A special 'Just for Two's' rate applies outside of school holidays, peak weeks, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year. At Ropewalk Cottage the discount is 20%.. Call the office on 01872 553491 to book.

Living

Take the stairs up to the first floor and you'll find the spacious, simple sitting room with whitewashed floors, a fabulous wood burning stove, eclectic seating and television (Internet only). There's also a conservatory which opens out to a large balcony - perfect for lazy sunny afternoons with a gin and tonic and a good book, or a spot of al fresco dining.

Eating

The fab monochrome and wood kitchen is coolly paired-back; it would definitely get Jamie Oliver's approval - think industrial shelving, whitewashed floors, wooden work surfaces, Le Creuset dishes and a huge selection of cook books. There's a great vintage dining table with wrought iron seats which look out over the unique arched window.

Sleeping

The simple master bedroom is on the ground floor and has original flag stone floors, a lovely white wrought iron king size bed, original feature fireplace, window seat and pretty vintage dresser. There's a great little dressing room next door too (this can be used as a bedroom for babies and small children). Up at the top of the house, on a mezzanine level accessed by stairs in the kitchen, is a small twin room. This room is only suitable for children as it has a curtain for privacy rather than a door.

Bathing

The gorgeous monochrome bathroom is downstairs and comes with a fabulous bath tub for two, plus overhead drench shower. There's plenty of fluffy white towels and organic bath products - perfect for relaxing after a long day out exploring - bliss!

WiFi

Ropewalk is fully WiFi ready so if you need to get in touch with the outside world you can.

Dogs

One dog is very welcome at Ropewalk.

Parking

There is on street parking on the narrow lane outside the cottage.
