Being by the sea and with an incredible estuary, there’s always plenty to do in and on the water – from kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing or just swimming in the clear waters. Salcombe’s North Sands beach is close to the town nestled between two headlands and is lovely and sandy, plus it’s dog-friendly all year around too. Bear in mind the beach completely disappears at high tide. South Sands is one of the most unspoilt beaches in South Devon so well worth a visit too. For land lubbers, the coastal paths offer jaw-dropping views for walkers or cyclists with the Soar to Salcombe stretch of the South West Coast Path being exceptionally good (make sure to visit the hidden beach at Soar Mill Cove en route). The three mile circular walk to Bolt Head is a must-do too.
