Cornwall and Devon host some of the best Christmas markets in the UK, lighting up country villages, seaside towns and bustling cities with festive cheer.

Taking place throughout November and December this year, 2021’s line up of Christmas markets in Cornwall and Devon inspires sheer joy. With multi-generational appeal, the whole family can get involved in these Yuletide activities and celebrate together. So you can dive straight into the action, here are some of the must-visit markets across both counties this year:  

Truro Christmas Market, Cornwall

Taking place across the picturesque Lemon Quay, the Truro Christmas Market will run from 3rd to 24th December 2021. Hosted in partnership with Truro Farmers Market and Truro BID, the event promises the finest local food, drink, arts and crafts – all with a Christmas twist. With the event spanning a month, you’ll have plenty of time to dip in and out and soak up the magical atmosphere of this most festive time of year.

Cornwall Christmas Fair, Cornwall

See the iconic Eden biomes adopt a beautiful blue cloak in celebration of 2021’s Christmas festivities. Set across 2 days from 10th to 11th November, Cornwall Christmas Fair at the Eden Project will tempt merrymakers with an array of Christmas gifts, ethical fashion, jewellery, skincare, mouth-watering food and more. What’s more, 15% of all takings will be donated to the Cornwall Community Foundation.

Fowey Christmas Market, Cornwall

One of Cornwall’s most well-known festivals, Fowey’s Christmas Market is held throughout this idyllic port town and welcomes more than 10,000 revellers every year. Scheduled for 26th – 28th November this year, it offers you a head start on celebrations with a whole range of stalls and stands selling festive gifts and goodies, as well as unmissable activities such as carol singing outside of the church. 

Falmouth’s Festive Weekend, Cornwall

Think Falmouth’s Festive Weekend on 11th – 12th December, think ice-skating, ice curling, land trains, festive stalls, mulled wine, live choirs and much, much more. One of the festive highlights of the county, this Christmas festival in Cornwall has something for everyone and promises ample to see and do. You can even look forward to snowy streets, thanks to the town’s snow machines and their brilliant water-based, eco-friendly snow!

Plymouth Christmas Market, Devon

Taking place in the heart of Plymouth city centre just a stone’s throw from the cobbled streets of the Barbican, Plymouth’s Christmas markets are planned for 2nd – 21st December 2021. One of the biggest Christmas markets in the South West, this market offers winter wonderlanders all kinds of festive fun, including an open-air bar serving hot mulled wine under starry skies, warming food, artisan gift stalls and more.

North Devon Christmas Market, Devon

Located in the picture-postcard village of Braunton, the North Devon Christmas Market is a must-visit for every Christmas fan. Hosting over 130 traders, the market showcases the finest crafts and products from the West Country. Pencil in the date, the 4th December 2021, and gear yourself up for live entertainment, delicious street food and lots of superb shopping opportunities. 

Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market, Devon 

The award-winning Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market is one that attracts visitors from near and far. Spread across the historic city, the month-long extravaganza will take place from 18th November to 18th December this year and promises a range of local, regional and international market stalls. Follow the labyrinth of fairy light-strung historic streets and relish the cheery atmosphere and festive fun.

Dawlish Christmas Festival, Devon

Head to the seaside town of Dawlish in South Devon on the 26th November for the annual Christmas lights switch on, followed by the Christmas Festival on the 27th – 28th November 2021. With the smell of sea air mingling with the intoxicating aromas of mulled wine and roasting chestnuts, the scene will be perfectly set for unforgettable Christmas celebrations. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of Father Christmas on the Sunday, too.
