The Woolpack Inn, Stroud

In the heart of the beautiful Slad Valley is the Woolpack Inn. Staying true to its roots, it is the quintessential English country pub and enjoys fantastic views of the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Overlooking verdant fields and flourishing hedgerows, it’s little wonder why Cider with Rosie author Laurie Lee was so enamoured with this part of the world.

With a history reaching back over 300 years, the Woolpack Inn has welcomed many a guest in years gone by. Still a popular spot for both visitors and locals alike, the pub has been in the capable hands of owner Daniel Chadwick for the last 20 years. Instilling passion, commitment and an industrious flare, Daniel and his dedicated team have taken the pub boldly into its next exciting chapter whilst honouring its authentic charm.

If you would like to visit the pub, head chef Adam Glover has poured his talent into a varied menu of appetisers, mains and desserts. With an emphasis on home-cooked goodness, you can enjoy hearty meals created from local ingredients. Whether you are choosing an old favourite or trying something new, the menu caters for all. There are also vegetarian options and the staff are happy to accommodate dietary requirements, too.

Find a quiet corner for a romantic date or prop up the bar and chat with the locals. Welcoming patrons of all ages, the whole family can gather together to share stories and dig into portions of piping hot fodder.
