Not far from the bistro’s sister restaurant, Prawn on the Lawn, Barnaby’s offers guests a warm, relaxed dining experience in the thriving heart of a working vineyard.
Established by Katie and Rick Toogood, Barnaby’s is named after Rick’s grandfather, George Barnaby. Working hard to create flavour-intense dishes with local produce, the staff work with trusted local suppliers to make sure their ingredients are as fresh as possible with minimal carbon footprint. Serving seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes, they use a variety of techniques and experiment with exciting British and middle eastern influences.
Adopting a self-professed informal and friendly approach, the pop-up restaurant enjoys a fun, intimate feel and is now open throughout the year at Trevibban Mill Vineyard. Regularly updating their menus with the seasons and new concoctions, you can always look forward to the same happy atmosphere with different treats to tempt your taste buds. Particularly fun for romantic dates or group meals with friends, Barnaby’s serves sharing platters so you can all enjoy a divine medley alongside sustainable wines and cocktails.
That said, there are many single dishes too, so if you know your favourite you can dive straight in. From starters and small plates such as crab toast, padron peppers and confit duck, to mains such as whole fish, Cornish lamb and Za'atar chicken, and with plenty of sides too, you can find your perfect arrangement. Vegetarian options are also provided and dietary requirements can be catered for with a little advance notice. When you’ve finished your savoury course, finish off your meal with dessert and languish in food-induced bliss.
Usually open from Tuesday to Saturday each weel, Barnaby’s at Trevibban is definitely worth popping into whether you are visiting for the first, fifth or fifteenth time.
