The Angel restaurant invites guests to enjoy a high-class dining experience in the attractive riverside town of Dartmouth. First opened in 1974 by the redoubtable Molineux, the restaurant now welcomes the latest wave of female chefs looking to shake up the industry with passion and skill.
Runner up in 2016’s MasterChef: The Professionals, Head Chef Elly Wentworth is firmly asserting herself in the giant metaphorical boots of her predecessor. Impressing MasterChef judges Marcus Wearing and Monica Galletti with her skills, she also boasts a prestigious Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Award of Excellence and is already wowing diners with her culinary prowess.
Serving a menu of intricately crafted dishes using local, seasonal ingredients, Elly along with Catering and Marketing Manager Matt Palmer are taking full advantage of the wealth of goods Devon has to offer. Using Brixham and Dartmoor-based suppliers for meat and fish, the Angel sources its mushrooms from local company Devon Funghi, whilst also serving some farmed fish to help repopulate recovering native populations.

Passionate about simple, quality food, Matt states: “It was essential for the success of the restaurant to engage a Head Chef who is as passionate about local produce and traditional breeds, who believes like me in understanding how the animals are raised to create the flavour and to ensure the sustainability of historic local Devon breeds.”
As well as offering meat and fish-based dishes, a significant portion of the menu is devoted to vegetarian alternatives and a vegan menu is available with some advance notice. Offering 45 covers within the restaurant, you can book yourself a table for lunch (based around a set two or three course menu) and evening dinner.
