Cotswold Farm Park, near Guiting Power

Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park offers a fun-filled day out for all ages. Sitting near the village of Guiting Power, visitors to the park will have the opportunity to interact with all sorts of cute animals, as well as learn about farming, past and present.

Founded by Adam Henson’s father in 1971, Cotswold Farm Park’s aim is to protect rare breed farm animals. Now following in his father’s muddy boots, the nation’s favourite farmer is passionate about developing the best of British farming in a sustainable way.

As you wander around the Farm Park, you will have the chance to meet over 50 breeds of farm animals, including Highland cattle and Gloucester Old Spot pigs. The Park is not only a visitor attraction, but also a working farm. There is usually a sample of each cattle breed on display each day, such as white park, belted Galloway and Hereford. Each evening they return to join their friends on large grazing fields.

Jump on the tractor-led farm safari ride so you can enjoy a guided tour around the Farm Park and learn more about the animals. Besides the cattle, you will also see a variety of breeds of goats, pigs, sheep, horses and ponies. Daily demonstrations include milking, lambing and shearing (depending on season).

Head inside the Animal Barn for hands-on seasonal activities including bottle-feeding and cuddling rabbits or chicks. Lambing season is a real highlight at the Farm Park and you may even be lucky enough to catch the arrival of a newborn lamb!

If you want to stretch your legs further, take the one- or two-mile Wildlife Walk for wonderful views of the Cotswolds’ countryside. Children can let off steam in the Adventure Barn or in the various outdoor play areas.

After all that activity, the Ox Shed restaurant offers jacket potatoes, hearty lunches and homemade cakes; the meat is produced to high standards on the farm. During peak season, there is an additional snack bar and coffee bar.

Cotswold Farm Park opens every day from mid February until just before Christmas. Check their website for opening times and admission charges. Tickets can be booked online in advance.
