The Jack in the Green, Exeter

The Jack in the Green, Exeter

Under the masterful partnership of owner Paul Parnell and head chef Matthew Mason, the Jack in the Green near Exeter has celebrated nearly 30 years of superb food, famous faces and a whole larder full of awards.

What is the secret to Jack in the Green’s success? Frequented by the likes of the late Roger Moore and consistently recognised with awards and accolades (including a spot amongst the UK’s top 100 restaurants), the acclaimed Jack in the Green has certainly earned itself quite the reputation. Managed by the same owner for over 28 years and enjoying the talents of head chef Matthew for over 25 years, the pub’s team have truly perfected their craft.

Serving up unpretentious, wholesome food with an emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients and seasonality, one of the best things about the pub’s mouth-watering menu is its focus on fresh flavours. With the kitchen’s ingredients travelling no distance at all and with many of the pub’s suppliers having worked alongside the team from the start, the quality, confidence and precision poured into each dish is evident in every bite.

As well as its outstanding food, which includes a “Totally Devon” menu, the beauty of this welcoming pub is that it can be whatever you want it to be. Whether you are looking for somewhere extra special to dine out, a venue for a celebration or gathering or can’t wait to curl up in a quiet corner with a drink, you can be totally at ease amongst the happy chatter and laidback ambience.
