Believed to date back to the late 1700s, Anchor Cottage is a stunning retreat for eight in arguably the best position in the village of Boscastle with gloriously uninterrupted views of the harbour and cliffs. Originally a 'fishery' and later the harbour master's cottage, today it has been stunningly renovated into a super retreat perfect for larger families or a group of friends. With underfloor heating throughout the large, spacious open-plan ground floor and fabulous bedrooms upstairs with plenty of bath and shower rooms, this is a deceptively spacious cottage made for entertaining. The village of Boscastle lies on the North Cornish coast and is surrounded by stunning countryside and coast line making it perfect for walkers - the South West Coastal Path literally passes by the front door! The village itself has lots of places to eat, drink and shop whilst you're ideally located to explore the coast from Crackington Haven all the way down to Padstow.

Living

Step through the front door and you'll find yourself in the simple yet stylish living area with comfy sofa and chairs nestled around a large glass coffee table - perfect for laid-back afternoons reading or catching up with your favourite box sets on the TV. Leave the doors open during the summer to allow the warm sea air in, whilst during cooler months shut the pretty French blinds and light the stunning three-sided Rais wood-burning stove to make it super-cosy.

Eating

The stylish John Lewis kitchen will be a dream for any skilled or budding chef. The sleek, white worktops and light grey cabinets look gorgeous and conceal every appliance and gadget you'll need to rustle up feasts. As well as an American fridge with integrated ice and water dispenser, there's an induction range with three-door oven, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, microwave and Dualit toaster. In addition, there's a fabulous over-sized island with quartz worktop and breakfast bar for two. Next to the kitchen lies the dining area with stunning original flagged flooring. The long country-kitchen antique dining table and chairs are perfect for dinner parties or long lunches, whilst we love the two green leather occasional chairs. You also get to benefit from the stylish wood burner for a totally cosy, ambient environment.

Sleeping

There are four stunning bedrooms at Anchor Cottage. The en suite master bedroom lies to the front of the property and benefits from dual-aspect windows overlooking the river and harbour. Benefitting from a spacious king bed with stunning dark wood frame, TV, high vaulted ceilings, super-fluffy adults' beanbag and window seats from which to gaze at the views, this is a simple yet stylish room, made for long sleeps and epic dreams. There are three further bedrooms; a cute bunk bed with trundle for little folks with an Apple TV, bean bags and harbour views, another cosy double with exposed stone walls, window seat and vaulted ceiling, and a sweet twin room at the back of the house. All beds come swathed in gorgeous linens, throws and cushions and French blinds can be opened so you can gaze at the views or shut tight for privacy.

Bathing

The master bedroom has an en suite shower room with large walk-in shower, whilst the large family shower room has a large walk-in shower with vaulted ceiling. The twin and further double also share an en suite 'Jack and Jill' bathroom with bath and hand-held shower. All have heated rails to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

There's a lovely terraced garden to the side of the cottage with a fabulous table and chairs for alfresco meals overlooking the harbour and hills.

Parking

There is private parking for three cars; two to the side of the property, plus one at the back in the centre of the courtyard outside the back door.

In the Area

Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty owned by the National Trust, Anchor Cottage couldn't ask for a more idyllic setting. Join the coastal path in either direction for stupendous, scenery-loaded walks whilst if you follow the river inland you'll find ancient woodland and Minster Church, a spiritual site since the 6th century. The village itself had plenty of places to visit or get a bite to eat and drink, such as the National Trust shop and café, whilst pubs The Cobweb, The Riverside or The Napolean are fab places for a drink and pub grub. Boscastle Farm Shop is worth exploring plus there's a café too. There's an abundance of beaches nearby for windswept walks during winter or long sunny days swimming; Bude, Widemouth Bay, Bossiney Haven, Trebarwith Strand and Polzeath are worth a visit.

With epic, uninterrupted sea views, large open plan living, gorgeous gardens and a short walk to places to eat, this is a fab home stay for larger gatherings.

Had a really lovely stay at Anchor Cottage. Perfect location and setting for a relaxing and fun break. Many thanks.

A lovely cottage. Beautifully appointed and in the best of locations.

Fabilous location. A really welcoming and sociable retreat. The interior decoration was lovely and well thought out. On colder evenings we enjoyed lighting the fire and on sunny mornings sand warm evenings we sat on the terrace enjoying the view. Highly recommend.

Outstanding

Fantastic location with spectacular harbour view. Right on the coastal path with a stunning walk from the door to Tintagel. The farm shop was a short walk away on the coastal path in the other directions. Excellent breakfasts! The house was very well equipped and comfortable.

A one off view and location with an amazing inside that is so comfortable and a nice chill out area outside
