Surrounded by lush rolling countryside yet just a short drive from the bustling seaside town of Bude and Widemouth Bay, this delightful barn conversion is an idyllic retreat offering a peaceful escape but within easy reach of all the joys that the north Cornish coast has to give. With fabulous open-plan interiors and with an upside-down approach (bedrooms downstairs, living area up top) to make the most of the light, there’s plenty of outside space too with a gorgeous summerhouse, hot tub and a hidden-away sauna.

Walk through the front door and up the stairs and you’ll find a beautifully light and open-plan living space. To the left is the sitting area, complete with sumptuous chairs and sofas in shades of blues and greys to stretch out on and relax. During warmer weather, you can open the glass doors which look out over the rolling hills and fields beyond and let the soft summer breeze float in. When nights get chilly, close the pretty curtains, light the cosy wood burner and curl up with hot chocolates in hand. We just adore the pretty little desk – ideal for writing your postcards on!

To the right of the stairs lies the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped with everything the super chef needs to create culinary masterpieces. The eye-catching blue Smeg is just gorgeous and a central kitchen island offers more preparation space whilst also doubling up as a breakfast bar. The country-cottage style dining table lies in the centre of the room and is made for leisurely lunches and decadent dinners – why not pick up some fresh local seafood whilst out and about? A delicious welcome hamper is provided and the owners offer a shopping service where you can buy more of the hamper items which are all produced on site in their butchery. They also offer an in house private chef or prepared food service, perfect!

There are two spacious bedrooms on the ground floor, both are en suite and have French windows that make the most of the countryside views. The master bedroom is resplendent in yellow and boasts a sumptuous super-king bed – made for lazy lies ins! The second room has a king-sized bed and is decorated in calming shades of light blue and white – totally blissful!

Each of the bedrooms are en suite; the master bedroom en suite has a huge walk-walk in shower whilst the second bathroom has a gorgeous bath for two plus overhead shower – perfect for long soaks after a day’s exploring. Both come complete with heated rails to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

The pretty landscaped garden has a great patio area for sunny afternoons complete with plenty of seating, a table and chairs for alfresco dining and a barbeque for summer nights. There’s also a gorgeous summerhouse with seating for four, for when you’re after a bit of shade or if it’s sunny but a little chilly to sit outside. Tucked around the corner is a fabulous hot tub, sauna – perfect for easing the aches after a day out surfing. There’s also an outdoor shower for washing wetsuits and sandy feet.

La Maison has WiFi so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.
