Part of an outstanding Art Deco style apartment building with a slipway for launching yachts this is the perfect destination for salty sea dogs, although landlubbers will love watching the sun sparkle on the water, clouds scudding across blue skies and dinghies and yachts pottering about on the water.
Living and eating
Slipway's airy open plan living room is filled with light and the sounds of sea-going bustle on fine sailing days. Full height windows allow storm watching in comfort during winter months while summer days are filled with ever-changing activity out on the water. A fully equipped kitchen is set behind glossy units and sofas sit before the wonderful view. Fabulous retro-inspired furnishings are complimented with beautifully restored vintage finds, many sourced from local shops and workshops. Fabulous artwork decorates the walls, some by local artists and some from the owner's global art collection. An office-come-chillout area is tucked into a corner and a Sonos sound system allows you to stream your favourite music while chilling to the sound of halliards tapping against steel masts and the ebb and flow of the tide. There's a Smart TV with Netflix so you can catch up with your favourite programmes or snuggle down and watch romcoms on blustery, rainy days (what rainy days…?). The spacious, glass-sided balcony faces out over the water, a wonderful place to sit soaking up a few rays with an afternoon cream tea or relaxing with an evening G&T as the sinking sun sparkles on the water.
Sleeping
The master bedroom has a super-kingsize bed (which can be separated into single beds if required) and a beautiful vintage dressing table. The en suite shower-room has a spacious walk-in shower with drench head fitting for easing aching muscles after exploring near and far. The second bedroom has a lovely kingsize bed and both have gorgeous Egyptian cotton bedding topped with lovely throws and cushions.
Bathing
There is an en suite shower-room and a family bathroom with a power-shower fitted above the bath.
Outside space
Slipway has a spacious balcony overlooking the water with shared use of the private slipway.
Parking
There is a private garage right next to the front door of the apartment building.
WiFi
Slipway is kitted out with WiFi so you can keep in touch with the outside world or book a table at one of the lovely restaurants in Falmouth.
Exploring
There are lots of lovely eating places very close to Slipway. The apartment is half a mile from the centre of bustling maritime Falmouth where an abundance of shops, bars, galleries and restaurants await to be explored. Have a look at the following: Rick Stein's Fish is found at Discovery Quay next to the Maritime Museum. Excellent food and a takeaway service for those who want to eat while sitting on the waterfront gazing at the yachts. The Shed is also on Discovery Quay, an informal eating place with a warm welcome for all. Classic favourites like the Shed burger, sirloin steak, Cornish mussels and tapas platter feature on their menu and there's something to suit everybody here. The Gylly Beach Cafe Gylly Beach Cafe has great food and wonderful views. Set right on Gyllyngvase beach, this is a place to go for brunch or lunch when you can really appreciate the views out across Falmouth Bay and there is plenty of outdoor seating for sunny days. The Shack is a rustic shellfish bar in bustling Event's Square, where the food is always fresh from shellfish to every variety of fish (plus steaks for the carnivores!).
Oliver's is one of the closest restaurants to Salty Sea Dog, set in the High Street and offering extremely good food and a genuinely warm welcome.
Plus many, many more bars and restaurants tucked away in the nearby streets and lanes of Falmouth, well worth seeking out and trying.
