Oh-so-pretty, this darling cottage close to the dreamy Helford River in south Cornwall is a gorgeously grown-up romantic escape for two, perfectly positioned for exploring the stunning Lizard peninsula.

This beautiful homestay, nestled in the heart of the Cornish countryside in the grounds of Tremayne House, is a lovingly restored, traditional semi-detached cottage offering a warm welcome to couples wishing to escape the everyday. Step inside and you'll find an upside-down approach, with the cosy bedroom downstairs and the living space upstairs, and country modern interiors that includes warm woods, natural colours and gorgeous, tactile furnishings. Perfectly positioned near Helford on the Lizard Peninsula, Apple Loft is the perfect base from which to explore the west of Cornwall, whether it's the epic natural scenery of the glorious coastline or the pretty villages and towns that await to be discovered.
Living

The fabulous living space lies upstairs to make the most of the stunning vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, and with windows either side of the cottage, this is a wonderfully bright, airy space in which to relax.

With simple white walls, wonderful oak wooden floors and a flickering wood burner at its heart, this is a lovely space to unwind, with a beautiful and oh-so comfy velvet sofa to curl up together on, plus a 43" Smart TV for catching up with a box set or two or watching your favourite films.

Eating

The cleverly designed kitchen with white cabinets and marble worktop comes fully equipped with everything you could need to rustle up feasts, whether its freshly caught seafood or locally made produce from nearby Gear Farm pasty and farm shop. There's an oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, Smeg retro fridge and freezer plus a washer dyer and all the other essentials.

The super-romantic dining table and chairs lies clustered by the wood burner, for intimate meals à deux or head outside to the courtyard to eat on warmer days.

Sleeping

Situated on the ground floor, the delightful bedroom boasts an Enchanted House king size bed, swathed in Cologne & Cotton bedding, sumptuous throws and Oka cushions to ensure a blissful nights' sleep and long, lazy lie ins. In addition, there's a chest of drawers and hanging space, plus step through the front door and you're in the pretty courtyard garden, perfect for morning coffee and breakfast.

Bathing

Situated en suite to the bedroom, there's a large walk-in shower with rainfall head and separate handheld shower. A heated rail ensures towels are always kept warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

Apple Loft has a pretty courtyard garden to the back of the house with a table, chairs, and parasol plus a small barbeque for alfresco dining.

Location

Please note that Apple Loft is semi-detached to Tremayne Farmhouse, our retreat for eight. Tremayne Estate has three retreats in total, as well as the owner's own home.

Parking

There is private, off road parking.

Babies and children

This is one of our adults only retreats.

Dogs

This is one of our pet-free properties.

In the Area

With so many places to explore in the area, you'll discover an array of sights to see and things to do. If you're an unashamed foodie, The Shipwrights Arms is a cosy thatched gem just a one-and-a-half-mile stroll away from the property or uncover The Prince of Wales, a quintessential 16th century pub in Newtown. Take a stroll to the idyllic Helford River to dine on the water's edge or explore the local coves nearby, it certainly is an area of natural beauty!

If you're looking to get back to nature, venture to Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens to experience breath-taking displays of local flora. As the most southernly point and designated Area of Natural Beauty, The Lizard is awash with stunning scenery along its coastline including Kynance Cove, Lizard Point and Mullion Cove. The pretty fishing villages of Coverack and Cadgwith are must-visits to immerse yourself in the local Cornish culture. Grab a delicious local bite at Fat Apples Café or venture to Gear Farm for must-have organic produce to rustle up your evening dishes.

Further along the coast you'll find the quirky town of Falmouth, with a bustling harbour this university town offers unique shops, Maritime Museum and an abundance of excellent eateries. You'll even find the quaint Gyllyngvase Beach with restaurant for perfect ocean vistas, Falmouth certainly does have it all! Fancy sailing further afield, you can catch the ferry or drive to St Mawes and the beautiful Roseland Peninsula. For incredible food, head to nearby Trengilly Wartha, an award-winning pub, whilst The Potager is a fabulous café surrounded by gardens.

  • Mid Week Breaks (Mon to Fri) cost 75% of the weekly rate.
  • Long Weekends (Fri to Mon) cost 75% of the weekly rate.
  • Short breaks are not available at Christmas and New Year.

Payments:

  • A 13 deposit & £38 booking fee secures your dates.
  • Payment of balance is due 8 weeks before your holiday starts.
  • There is a charge of £35 per pet per week or short break
