Nestled in the sleepy hamlet of Drym, Apple Loft is the perfect romantic luxury self-catering cottage for two. An annexe to a beautiful 18th century stone farmhouse, it sits within stunning grounds which have changed little over the centuries. With views over a wooded valley, well-tended lawns and birds and flowers a-plenty, it's an ideal spot for couples wanting a tranquil retreat and its location is a perfect base from which to explore West Cornwall and visit both the north and south coasts, just fifteen minutes' drive away in either direction.
Living and eating
Step through the rose-bordered door and you'll find yourself in a spacious open-plan kitchen with stripped oak floors and exposed beams. In the autumn and winter months you'll find a warm welcome from the Aga, a lovely clotted cream colour, tucked away in the old chimney breast. A beautifully bespoke wooden kitchen completes this snug but well-equipped kitchen - perfect for cooking seafood picked up from nearby Porthleven. Walk on through and you'll find the cosy living area with bucolic garden views out of the original sash windows. Sit in one of the cushion-strewn window seats and you could be forgiven for thinking you had stepped into a Jane Austen novel! A squishy, welcoming sofa beckons - perfect for cuddling up on - and there's a flat-screen TV for when you want a good old-fashioned film night.
Sleeping
Tucked away upstairs you'll find the romantic, calming bedroom - creams and light oak reign here, and with a sumptuous king-sized bed swathed in throws and cushions, and nothing but the stillness found only when in the countryside, you're guaranteed a peaceful sleep - what bliss!
Bathing
Just a step away from the bedroom, the tiled white bathroom has a very spacious double-size walk-in shower with rain head - perfect for cooling off (or warming up!) after a day's exploring.
Courtyard and Garden
Walk out of Apple Loft and you'll find a charming cobbled terrace and courtyard plus two and a half acres of very pretty shared gardens - perfect for taking a leisurely breakfast, a a barbecue or maybe a G&T or two on a balmy summer's evening (we recommend Curio Gin, produced locally in Mullion - yum). With tucked away sitting areas and a plethora of rolling countryside views, you'll easily find a quiet spot to read a book (or snooze) for an hour or two. Don't be surprised to find the odd wandering hen, cat or dog come across your path - it's all part of the countryside charm!
Exploring
Being so ideally situated - equidistant from both the North and South coast - there is plenty to do and explore within easy reach of Apple Loft. From the foodie haven that is Porthleven (we recommend The Square at Porthleven and Kota Kai), to the arty town of St Ives (home to The Tate and some fantastic beaches and shops), you really are spoilt for choice. On the south coast you'll find Long Rock Beach (dog-friendly all year around), St. Michael's Mount, Praa Sands, Penzance, Newlyn, and Mousehole . Head West and there are the treasures of Land's End, St Just and Sennen to explore. Go North and you can catch Gwithian Beach and of course the fantastic South West Coast Path to take in the wild and rugged coastline - perfect!
