Tucked away in an ancient wooded valley yet just minutes from the coast, this wonderful dog friendly retreat in West Cornwall offers the best of both worlds - the seclusion of the countryside and the draw of the sea. Set in extensive gardens, Home Farm is a beautifully restored Georgian home, ready to welcome lucky guests looking for a peaceful, luxurious and laid-back escape. Ideal for larger families or a group celebration, it benefits from lots of space for socialising both inside and in the garden and comes with a hot tub too.

Living

As you would expect in such a fabulous house, there is plenty of space for relaxing. The formal lounge to the front of the house is magnificent with large marble fireplace, open fire, large sash windows with original shutters and oak floors. The White Company sofas, covered in silk cushions from Turkey, are particularly inviting whilst the gorgeous antique artwork, plasterwork and architraves pay homage to the house's Georgian heritage.

The fab snug, tucked away to the back of the house, is oh-so-pretty with a large soft corner sofa for lounging, a Smart TV and DVD player for film nights, a wood burning stove to make things cosy and doors that open into the garden on warmer days.

Eating

Just wow - the kitchen is just heavenly - a clever combination of traditional heritage and modern design. With a striking five-oven white Aga as the beating heart of this welcoming space, it's the perfect spot for entertaining with two islands for prepping, six barstools (perfect for aperitifs whilst watching the cook), plus all the other essentials such as two dishwashers and a large fridge-freezer - ideal for stocking up for celebrations. In addition, you'll find vintage touches such as the traditional blue and white china, Aga kitchenware, lovely marble fireplace, Belfast sink, oak floors and sash windows.

The fabulous dining room is the ultimate space for dinner parties. Dual-aspect windows welcome in plenty of light and the large Cox and Cox table and benches are laid-back yet stylish. In addition, there are two sideboards with glassware and games.

In the back hallway there's a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Sleeping

There are five utterly divine bedrooms to choose from at home, each boasting luxury feather and down duvets, Colefax and Fowler vintage curtains, Loaf throws and cushions plus dark oak flooring and sash windows. On the ground floor, leading off of the Snug, there's a king size bedroom with pretty garden views, perfect for those with limited mobility.

Upstairs, there are a further four bedrooms - to the front, the master bedroom has a luscious king size four-poster bed plus dual-aspect windows which create a wonderfully serene, bright space for long lie-ins. In addition, there's a further king size bedroom with a lovely wooden headboard, dual-aspect windows and gorgeous vintage curtains. To the back, there are two fabulous twin bedrooms, one which can be made up as either a twin or super-king bedroom, just let us know at the time of booking.

Bathing

The family bathroom with a roll top freestanding bathtub for two is the perfect spot for decadent soaks with bubbles, candles and your favourite book. In addition, there's a shower room on the middle landing and on the ground floor. Each comes with a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Garden

The gorgeous garden that surrounds the house is just made for entertaining. With a terrace to the front and side of the house, you'll find a large table for twelve, perfect for summer celebrations, complete with twinkling fairy lights to add a touch of magic to your alfresco parties. There's a barbeque too. Around the corner you'll find a fabulous corner sofa, a bubbling hot tub and cinema room with 50" Smart TV for the ultimate movie night! In addition, there's badminton and swing ball for burning off some energy, whilst there's a fire pit at the very top of the garden - an ideal spot to wrap up with blankets, sip hot chocolate and roast a marshmallow or two. There are two small properties opposite the house, tucked away behind a border of greenery which gently hugs the garden's edge.

Enjoyed cooking with the Aga

cosy and relaxing

Beautiful home in the countryside. The host provided us with an excellent guide to the local area which gave us lots of inspiration for activities. The house itself is quite remote but is a 10-15 minute drive to the nearest town and within around 35 minutes of multiple Cornish beauty spots and St Ives in particular. There is also a large, flat garden for playing in. The children loved the hot tub.

We loved Homefarm, a beautiful property in a darling location. Fabulously equipped kitchen, so much room for the children to roam the garden and comfortable beds!! The communication with Boutique Retreats was great and the house was very clean.

'This is a very handsome period house. The artwork, curtains/blinds and soft furnishings make for a really comfortable and relaxing environment. The gardens around the house are peaceful and lovely and a very pleasant spot for an evening meal. So too, We loved the ambiance in the dining room and had some fab evening meals there plus great games of monopoly! It's a great spot for visiting the gorgeous beaches of the Lizard peninsula' - September 2020
