You won't find anything more charming than this beauty, a gorgeously traditional Cornish cottage set high up in the seaside village of Portloe on the south Cornish coast. With incredible sea views, a courtyard garden, cosy wood burner, spacious kitchen and two oh-so-romantic en suite bedrooms, this is a lovely getaway for couples, friends or smaller families alike. It's dog friendly too, so your best furry friend can come along too. Portloe is a small, yet vibrant fishing village nestled on the glorious Roseland Peninsula and is the perfect base from which to explore this incredible part of the country. Head west to Falmouth, the Lizard and beyond, whilst east you'll find Mevagissey, Charlestown and Fowey.

Living

The delightful sitting area lies nestled around the flickering wood burner, perfect for cosy autumnal nights. There's a comfy sofa plus two armchairs, plus a pretty window seat for gazing out over the village and sea beyond. In addition, there's a Smart TV with Apple TV should you want a film night or to catch up on your favourite box sets.

Eating

The spacious, elegant kitchen in gorgeous light tones is home to everything even the pickiest cook could need. There's an induction hob with separate double oven, dishwasher, butler sink, washing machine, fridge, freezer and all the other including the all-important Nespresso coffee machine and a digital radio with Bluetooth speaker. There's plenty of workspace for creating your culinary masterpieces, whilst step through the door back into the sitting area and you'll find a dining table and chairs for four, positioned by the window to make the most of the view.

Sleeping and bathing

There are two gorgeous en suite bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom has a gorgeous, wrought-iron super king-sized bed; from here you can lie in bed and gaze over the cliffs and sea beyond - utter bliss! On warm summer nights, leave the windows and allow the soft sea breeze and the distant sound of the waves lull you off to sleep. This lovely room also has a pretty dressing table, bedside tables, storage and a delightful en suite bathroom with freestanding bathtub for two with a breath-taking sea view and a separate walk-in shower. The second, equally gorgeous bedroom lies to the back of the cottage and has an oh-so-comfy king-sized bed, dressing table, bedside tables, storage and en suite shower room. Both beds come swathed in luxurious linens, sumptuous bedding and throws and cushions to ensure a deep, satisfying sleep.

Outdoor space

To the front of the cottage lies a lovely courtyard complete with table and chairs, perfect for sundowners and meals alfresco.

Parking

This retreat doesn't have parking but there's a car park just a two-minute walk away.

Babies and children

Babies and children are most welcome. A travel cot can be provided on request.

Dogs

Fuchsia Cottage welcomes one small, well-behaved dog. We charge £35 per dog per week or short break. The front courtyard is enclosed, but the wall is low so dogs will need to be watched at all times.

In the Area

Portloe is a gorgeous little village and is one of the prettiest spots on the Roseland Peninsula. The Ship Inn, a 17th century pub, is just ideal for drinks and a spot to eat. The Lugger Hotel is another 17th century inn, also within a short walk, offering excellent local produce and the freshest of fish. With the Roseland on your doorstep there's plenty to see and do - make sure to try the culinary delights of The Hidden Hut at Portcurnick beach, whist if you carry on, you'll find Portscatho, a lovely seaside village, and St Mawes - a great spot for some lunch at either The Idle Rocks or the Tresanton, both of which are excellent with views over the harbour. From here you can catch the ferry across to the bustling seaside town of Falmouth for great shops and the must-visit Maritime Museum. Garden-lovers will enjoy Trelissick Gardens near the King Harry Ferry or The Lost Gardens of Heligan, whilst if you need a spot of city life, head to Truro with its wide selection of independent shops, impressive cathedral and great restaurants.

A little darling of a cottage, this oh-so-sweet seaside home is just a dream, perched high in a sleepy Cornish village with gorgeous sea views - and it's dog friendly too.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Fuchsia Cottage:

This is a pretty traditional cottage, beautifully decorated and with all acoutrements required. Very comfortable beds, loads of hot water and v good water pressure in showers. Plenty of kitchen supplies - dishwasher tabs, cleaning materials etc. Please note that the Nespresso machine takes Virtuo style caps only. Portloe is very attractive, small, traditional, quiet and unspoilt, just what we wanted. The Ship Inn (pub in village) friendly with good pub grub. The Lugger Hotel in the village no longer accepts non-residents for dinner which is a shame as we were celebrating a "big" birthday but we ate at The Driftwood which is a 10 - 15 min drive and is an absolutely fantastic Michelin starred restaurant - delicious food. Local taxi co Carlton cars were recommended to us by chap in the pub and the driver was helpful, reliable and friendly. .View from cottage is stunning, even better than it appears on the website. Would definately stay there again.

Beautifully refurbished fisherman's cottage in a great location, exceptionally tasteful interior that is really comfortable. Fantastic hiking on its doorstep and a proper pub 3 minutes walk away.....
