Living and eating

There are plenty of sociable spaces at Porthcurnick House. The open-plan living and kitchen area is perfect for gatherings, with stunning sea views from the bay windows and French doors that open on to the sunny terrace – perfect for sundowners after a busy day on the beach. It’s not difficult to imagine the wonderful parties which must have happened over the ages of the house, and something you’re sure to replicate during your stay.

At the front of the room lies the pretty seating area in shades of grey and green plus a television area, whilst the expansive dining table lies next to the second bay window that looks out through the huge trees towards Portscatho.

Towards the back of the room is a sleek, beautiful white kitchen which is a joy to cook in and filled with everything you’ll need to rustle up a feast for your crowd. Highlights include the huge range cooker, Nespresso coffee machine, pretty breakfast bar and all the appliances tucked neatly away behind eye-catching cupboards. Or, if you just don’t fancy it, why not get in touch and we’ll help you arrange your own private chef to come in and cook for you?

Perhaps the jewel in the crown is the stunning drawing room. Vibrant shades of green are paired with softer creams and whites, making this a delightfully cosy space to relax in at the end of the day. We just love the eye-catching dresser filled with treasures from the sea, lively artwork and sumptuous sofas nestled around the cosy wood burning stove.

In addition, there’s a huge boot room for storing surfboards, wetsuits and the like, as well as another fridge freezer. Leading off from this is the laundry and utility room.

There are five glorious bedrooms, four of which have wonderful sea views. The master en suite bedroom is just breath-taking with duel-aspect windows, sumptuous super king bed and décor of pale blues and whites. In addition, it has a separate dressing room/nursery and its own private balcony with a bistro table and chairs – perfect for breakfast a deux in the sunshine! In addition, there are two further beautifully appointed en suite super king bedrooms and two twin bedrooms – one of which is located on the ground floor.

There are three en suites; the master bedroom en suite has a beautiful bathtub for two for long soaks overlooking the garden and a huge walk-in shower. The other en suites (both leading off from the two super king bedrooms) both have showers and one also has a freestanding bath. There is also a family shower room on the first floor plus an additional loo on the ground floor.

Outdoor space

The mature grounds are spacious and private with the most astonishing sea views and there’s plenty of space for little ones, grown-ups and dogs alike to play and relax. As well as majestic trees, well-kept shrubberies, swaying palms and expansive lawns, there’s a lovely sun-soaked terrace complete with table, chairs and barbeque. There’s also table tennis for fun family games.

There is plenty of private parking.

In the Area

Portscatho is a traditional fishing village, with a small harbour, on the stunning Roseland Peninsula, situated on the south coast of Cornwall. Pretty and pastoral, with hidden coves and beaches, this side of the county is much softer and more protected than its rugged neighbour the north coast. There's so much to do in this wonderful part of Cornwall, whether it's exploring the beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan, Carne and Pendower, walking the stunning South West Coastal Path or visiting the plethora of gardens which make the most of the warmer climate - such as Trelissick Gardens or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. With lots of great places to eat and drink, you'll be spoilt for choice. The local pub, The Plume of Feathers, where a warm welcome from the owners Roger and Helen is guaranteed, is in the heart of the village and serves great pub food. At Tatums Taverna you can enjoy wonderful, locally produced food from the simple open grill in a bustling atmosphere, or order something to take away. For something a little different head to The Hidden Hut, situated on the cliffs above Porthcurnick Beach. If silver-service is your thing, The Driftwood Hotel boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant just a short hop away and just a few miles down the road in St Mawes, you will find the renown Tresanton and Idle Rocks Hotels.
