Marvellously hidden away, this gorgeous dog-friendly countryside home stay set in the heart of the Cornish countryside is just a few minutes' drive from the unspoilt Cornish coastline - both to the north and south coast. Made for four lucky people with an upside-down approach (with the living space upstairs and the bedrooms downstairs to make the most of the light), this is a delightfully airy retreat with a contemporary, laid-back feel plus a gorgeously spacious garden to relax, play or while away a lazy afternoon.

Special 'Just for Two' rate

A special 'Just for Two' rate applies if there are only two guests staying at Lisbue Barn. The discount off the advertised rate is 20%. This only applies out of peak weeks and school holidays. Call us in the office on 01872 553491 if you have any questions or would like to book. When Lisbue Barn is booked for two guests this is on the basis that only the master bedroom is used during your stay.

Living and eating

Take the stairs up and you'll find a delightfully spacious living space, running the full length of the house with vaulted ceilings open to the roof above and windows to let the sun flood in, making it a beautifully light room, plus beautifully soft wooden flooring. At one end, the living area is simple yet stunning with a large Danish wood burning stove, chic grey sofa and two leather armchairs - ideal for autumnal evenings or for escaping the midday heat during the summer months. At the other end of the room lies the kitchen, filled with everything you'll need to rustle up feasts including an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine as well as eye-catching Cornishware, Le Creuset pans and Dualit appliances. There's a Welsh dresser for storage plus a rustic country-style dining table with benches for long lunches and delicious dinners.

You'll find the two tasteful bedrooms downstairs, with the master bedroom home to a sumptuous Feather and Black super king bed with Hypnos mattress, soft wooden flooring, antique chest of drawers, fab leather chair and eye-catching artwork. The second bedroom is a handy zip-and-link bed with Hypnos mattress, meaning it can be made up as a super king or separated as twin beds. Both bedrooms come with beautiful White Company linens and bedding plus cosy woollen blankets and cushions to ensure a perfectly peaceful nights' sleep.

There's a spacious shower room on the ground floor complete with huge walk-in shower, two sinks and underfloor heating to keep toes warm and cosy. In addition, there's a heated rail for fluffy and warm towels.

Outdoor space

Outside you'll find a large lawned garden complete with barbeque, table and chairs for a spot of alfresco dining as well as a bench set in the lawn for when you just want to gaze out over the countryside or perhaps read for an hour or two.

There's plenty of private parking in the driveway next to the house.

One dog is very welcome at Lisbue Cottage - we charge £35 per dog, per week or short break.

Lisbue has WiFi so you can stay in touch with the outside world should you want to.

In the Area

Being pretty much positioned equally between the north and south Cornish coasts, you're in an ideal spot to explore this lovely part of the county whilst being hidden away from the normal busy spots. Head to the south coast and you'll find the Minack Theatre, Porthcurno beach, the pretty fishing village of Mousehole, the working fishing harbour of Newlyn (make sure to pick up some fresh fish from one of the shops), Penzance with its lovely Jubilee Pool, iconic St Michael's Mount and around to the Lizard, the UK's most southerly point. Head to the wilder north coast towards Land's End and Sennen, and follow the road towards St Ives, possibly one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the country, with spectacular views - very Poldark! Explore arty St Ives with its many sand beaches and up towards St Agnes, a firm favourite with surfers.

A lovingly converted 18th century cow barn nestled in the wilds of West Cornwall, this is an escape-it-all retreat for four - totally blissful!
