This lovely retreat is perfect for those wanting to hide away from it all but are close enough to explore both the lovely north Cornish coast around Padstow, Rock and Polzeath, and the more sheltered south coast around Fowey and Charlestown. A lovingly converted barn, it boasts gorgeous oak wooden flooring throughout the ground floor and three spacious bedrooms (two en suite) upstairs.
Living

Masses of windows, complete with plantation shutters, overlook a fish-filled pond and create flood lit space making it a lovely spot to curl up on the copious sofas with a good book or just gaze out of the window. The huge wood burning soap stone stove means you'll be toasty warm during winter months, whilst a huge ship's beam runs the full length of the barn, said to have originally been salvaged from a wrecked Spanish galleon. There's a 42 inch television for film nights plus a Sonos sound system to play your favourite tunes. Additionally, there's a small office between the dining and sitting area for those who need to catch up on work or emails.

Eating

The generously-sized kitchen has everything you need to create culinary masterpieces for you and your clan, including an electric three-oven range cooker with induction hob, Nespresso coffee machine and American style fridge-freezer with ice maker (for those necessary cocktails). There's plenty of workspace with an island whilst stable doors lead to the utility room where you can find a washing machine and tumble dryer.

There's a large dining table just in front of the kitchen with a large dresser housing all of the crockery and glassware - perfect for long, lazy lunches and decadent dinners.

Sleeping

Take the stairs to the first floor and you'll find three super-spacious bedrooms all with super king beds which can be made into twins on request. Festooned with luxury linens, cushions and throws, you'll be guaranteed a good nights' sleep. Two of the bedrooms are en suite and have shower rooms and all bedrooms have a television plus high, vaulted ceilings and under floor heating meaning you'll be snug in winter.

Bathing

You're spoilt for choice when it comes to bathing - the two en suites have showers (perfect for a wake-me-up in the morning) whilst the family bathroom has a gorgeous free-standing roll top bath and shower. Downstairs in the Utility there's also a walk-in shower and loo. All bathrooms have under floor heating and come compete with heated towel rails to ensure towels are warm and fluffy.

Outside space

Take a step outside and you'll find a pretty patio complete with gas-fired barbeque, tables, chairs and parasol - everything you would need for a spot of alfresco dining! Additionally, there's a small grassed terrace and over 40 acres of fields - with mown paths - for you to explore. Just perfect.

WiFi

Water Mill Barn is fully WiFi ready so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can.

In the Area

Head to the nearest pub, the Victoria Inn, for a good selection of St Austell beers and a spot of good pub grub. Within twenty minutes you'll find a host of places to eat, from Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow to fabulous tea rooms - there's plenty of information left at Water Mill Barn for you to help you find your perfect spot.

Make your way to the north coast for miles of rugged coastline and sandy beaches - perfect for surf lovers or families wanting a sun-filled day on the beach. Explore the Camel Estuary for water sports and its famous trail which you can walk or take your bike on. Port Isaac is a gorgeous little town (famed for the television series Doc Martin) and great for exploring the narrow streets filled with galleries and shops.

Travel to the south coast and you'll find idyllic, secluded coves with protected beaches - ideal for families. There are plenty of quaint fishing villages to exploe such as Charlestown (made famous in the recent series of Poldark, masquerading as Truro) and the oh-so-pretty seaside town of Fowey.
