Charming, chocolate-box pretty and infinitely stylish, Pound Cottage is a decadent haven for couples wanting a devastatingly beautiful love nest with unctuous interiors. In a gorgeous village setting, this lovely thatched cottage, recently renovated to an exceptional standard, lies on the village green opposite a church and just a short walk from the village inn, a fabulous tea room and a village shop selling local produce. Dog friendly too, we think it's just about the perfect holiday home for two.
Living

Step through the front door and turn right and you'll find yourself in an opulent nook made for cosy nights in. With a fabulous woodburning stove, lush antique sofa, occasional chair (perfect for curling up on with a good book) and views out onto the green, it's just delightful. We love the little stained-glass window to the back and striking dark blue wall. Luxurious cushions and throws complete the sumptuous feel of this homely den.

Eating

The stylish kitchen is immediately to the left as you go through the front door and has everything you need to rustle up meals to impress your loved one. We adore the flagged floor, refurbished Ercol table (perfect for meals à deux) and Belfast sink whilst a striking yellow blind lifts to reveal lovely views out onto the village green. The pièce de résistance must be the fabulous honesty bar, bespoke-made using Ash wood from the moor. In the wine fridge you'll find white wine, Prosecco and mixers, whilst on the bar is a selection of red wine and spirits.

Sleeping

Just wow. Lavish and luxurious, this oh-so-romantic boudoir is resplendent in raspberry, oatmeal and sage colours with top-notch Beaumont & Brown linens, velvet throws and gorgeous antique furniture including a majestic king size bed. During renovation work, the dividing wall was knocked through to reveal the original 17th century studs which today have been left as a beautiful feature. From the bed you can gaze through to the lovely freestanding bath tub for two beyond where you'll also find a comfy chair and a handy table to place your champagne whilst bathing - totally blissful.

Bathing

In addition to the bath, you'll find a gorgeous shower room right next door with hand-crafted artisan tiles, large walk-in shower with rainfall shower head and unusual gold fittings and a rail to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

To the front of Pound Cottage is a sweet wooden bench, perfect for sundowners or morning coffee and watching village life pass you by.

WiFi

There's WiFi at Pound Cottage should you want to stay in touch with the outside world, although we don't recommend it!

Dogs

One small/medium sized dog (spaniel size) is welcome at Pound Cottage, we charge £30 per dog, per week or short break.

Parking

Parking is on the street by the church.

Bespoke Experiences

Popping the question - Whatever you have imagined, from hiding the ring, to leaving notes in secret places, to preparing the most romantic hamper for a dramatic moorland moment, there's nothing the owner won't do to help you. And if you haven't got the ring yet, she can also arrange an appointment with one of Devon's best jewellers who will create the ring you both want. Fine food and wine - Talk to the owner about creating the perfect menu for a special meal. She works with a brilliant chef and a very knowing vintner who will deliver perfection for you. Or if you want something more simple, please ask about their luxury hampers. Country pursuits - Walking the moors is beautiful, but should you want more, they can also arrange anything from shooting, fishing and bird handling to river kayaking, tor climbing and everything in between.

In the Area

Nestled in a tree-laden valley in Dartmoor, the village of Lustleigh is regarded as the prettiest village on Dartmoor. Once there you won't need to go anywhere else if you don't want to; you'll find hundreds of fabulous walks and trails from the doorstep, whilst the Primrose Tea Rooms and The Cleave Pub are literally steps from the cottage.

Beyond the village, foodies will find a fine array of places to eat, particularly Gidleigh Park, holder of two Michelin stars. Art lovers will find a vibrant scene with the Open Studios in September and the Dartmoor Artisan Trail all year long. The very beautiful Contemporary Craft Festival in June is a fine display of the country's best makers. And if the beach is your thing, Devon's coastline is as stunning as any in the world with the famous South West Coastal Path 30 minutes drive away.
