Set in the courtyard of an ancient manor house, Wildflower Cottage is a beautifully converted former hayloft barn offering a characterful getaway for lucky couples looking to hide away from it all. With an upside-down approach, meaning the bedroom and bathroom are downstairs and the kitchen and living space upstairs, accessed by exterior stone steps, it's a quirky, charming bolt hole with bags of colour, original artwork, vintage ceramics and lots of space and an idyllic apple orchard to relax in. The owners make cider vinegar from their orchards and grow their own fruit and vegetables, so you may be greeted with some of their home-grown bounty!
Living and eating

With one large, open-plan living space made for relaxing, you'll find a stunning Danish wood burning stove at the heart of the room. A large, super-comfy Loaf sofa offers plenty of snuggle room amongst the cushions, where you can curl up on winter nights with the fire lit or with the stable doors open during the summer, letting the sounds of nature waft through on a warm summer's breeze. Additionally, there's a T.V for when you want to watch your favourite film or series - after all, holidays are made for relaxing!

The kitchen is to one side and just made for rustling up a romantic meal, with a butler's sink and all the equipment you'll need nicely tucked away inside white cupboards. In front of the kitchen area is a table made for two for on-the-go breakfasts before a day out exploring, or long lazy dinners, savouring local produce you've bought whilst out and about. Make sure to open the stable door on sunny days to let the golden rays warm you as you eat.

Sleeping

Descend the stairs and you'll find a romantic, colourful en suite boudoir in soul-lifting shades of yellows, blues and crisp whites. The stunning Feather & Black king-sized bed, swathed in goose-down bedding and linens, guarantee deep sleeps and long languorous lie-ins, whilst the gorgeous roll-top bath is just lovely - all you need is a glass of bubbles with your bubble bath to complete things! The lively artwork, velvet cushions and throws complete the room, making it a tranquil, idyllic hideaway to retreat to at the end of the day.

Bathing

Next to the bedroom is a fab shower room, complete with a huge walk-in shower with Lefroy Brooks fixtures and the most gorgeous mustard-yellow tiles and luxurious rainforest shower.

Outside space

Take a short stroll through the flower-filled courtyard to the peaceful orchard where you'll find a rustic picnic table and pretty benches just for you, with beautiful views over the village and countryside - a perfect spot to enjoy a sundowner.

Parking

There is parking outside the cottage.

In the Area

Wildflower cottage is in a gorgeous Devon country village boasting two village pubs and within an area where there is plenty to do right on your doorstep. Within a five-minute stroll of your front door are two atmospheric ancient pubs serving excellent food, and an award-winning community shop and café stocking locally grown fruit, veg, artisan breads, organic products and even Berry Brothers wine!

Just up the road is the lovely town of Totnes with its alternative vibe, independent shops and sense of real history (it boasts more listed buildings than any other town in Britain). Devon's largest Good Food market takes place on the third Sunday of every month with over 50 stalls whilst a regular market occurs every Friday and Saturday. It's also lovely to take a boat trip on the River Dart from here.

If you enjoy walking, Dartmoor is just a short drive away and offers miles of paths, tracks and bridleways for you to explore.

Drive to the coast to enjoy the beautiful beaches of the South Hams and also Torbay, all within a 30 - 40-minute drive.

Historic Totnes with its food markets and quirky character, Ashburton's antique shops, Staverton's steam railway and the beautiful Dartington Hall estate with great walks along the River Dart are all short drives away.

For foodies, head to Ben's Farm Shop (formally Riverford Farm Shop) in the nearby village of Staverton to pick up lots of organic and locally-grown goodies to take back to your retreat.
