Set amongst gorgeous unspoilt countryside close to the pretty River Synderford, this charming, exquisite homestay is for those seeking to shun the everyday, to disappear for a while and envelope yourself in the healing, therapeutic qualities of nature. Nestled on the border between Dorset and Somerset and surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the Forde Abbey Estate, step inside this delightful wood-cladded home where a warm welcome awaits. Inside, you'll discover a charming open plan space, perfect for couples or single travellers alike. With a delightful wood burner, country views, cosy bedroom and living space plus a well-equipped kitchen and spacious garden, you have everything you need close at hand to make your stay a relaxing one. Centrally located, Drovers Run is ideally situated to explore both the best of Dorset and Somerset, whether it's exploring the market towns such as Axminster and Bridport or heading to the coast to Lyme Regis and the impressive red cliffs of West Bay - the best of both worlds!

Living, eating and sleeping

Drovers Run is totally open plan, meaning the bedroom flows into the lounge area which in turn leads into the kitchen and dining area.

The bedroom and lounge area overlooks the back garden and open fields. The welcoming bed, swathed in luxurious bedding, linens, cushions, and throws is king size, and is the perfect setting for long, lazy lie ins and breakfast in bed. Look up, and a skylight offers the perfect view for stargazing, whilst you'll also have splendid views of the garden and verdant fields through the windows and French doors. There's plenty of built-in storage so all luggage can be conveniently tucked away.

Directly in front of the bed lies a comfy two-seater sofa, plus a cosy Contura wood burning stove -perfect for cooler months and simply hypnotic to watch from the comfort of bed! In addition, there's a Smart TV for catching up on your favourite box sets (also visible from the bed) plus a Marshall Stockwell Bluetooth speaker, although this retreat is the perfect spot for a digital detox too! French doors lead directly out onto the decking area, creating a larger living space during warmer weather.

The L-shaped kitchen has everything you need to rustle up romantic feasts for the two of you, including an induction hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, and the all-important coffee machine. There's plenty of workspace for prepping your locally sourced goodies, whilst a super-cute dining table and chairs lies between the kitchen and lounge area.

Bathing

The gorgeous shower room is perfectly equipped for pampering, with a shower that has a fixed head and handheld flexible shower wand, whilst gorgeous organic and locally produced 'LoveGrove' toiletries await along with fluffy bath and hand towels and underfloor heating. We just love the stunning sink too!

Outdoor space

Step through the French doors in the lounge area and you'll discover a pretty deck area with a two-seater table and chairs with garden parasol, as well as a Weber gas barbeque for alfresco dining. With the sun rising over this lovely space, it's the perfect spot for morning coffee too, listening to the glorious birdsong. In addition, two loungers await for lazy, hot afternoons when only a snooze under the beautiful big Ash tree will do. For the seekers of a restful retreat, unplug from the everyday and reset your soul with a yoga practice deep in the countryside - the decking area in the back garden is just perfect for serene yoga moments. Surrounded by open grazing farmland, this is a nature lovers dream, with plentiful birdlife as well as grazing cows and sheep - expect plenty of lambs in springtime!

A fantastic place to stay for our mini-moon! After a hectic few months, some downtime was needed and this was the ideal location. What a beautiful place to explore Dorset from. Drovers Run is just perfect set in beautiful countryside and so perfectly appointed for a restful, peaceful stay. So much thought put into this lovely place and always great to arrive back after a day exploring! Thank you Lisa & Clive, just perfect!!

Beautiful retreat in a beautiful location. Excellent hosts who offered advice and some lovely touches, particularly at arrival - homemade cake, fresh milk from the dairy, organic eggs and fresh bread.

A lot of effort has been made to make Drovers Run very sustainable, with carefully sourced materials and accessories. It’s also very luxurious, located in a very rural and natural location.

Beautiful cottage. Cosy and comfortable. Owners extremely welcoming.

Nice little retreat tucked away in the countryside with easy access to the Jurassic Coast. The garden is a sun trap in the afternoon and perfect for soaking up the last rays of the day. Check out the view of the stars on a clear night.

'As Bindon Bottom regulars, Drovers Run lived up to everything we'd expect from Lisa and Clive. From the detailed guest information, the luxurious surroundings and warm welcome to the yummy sticky ginger and whiskey cake, Drovers Run couldn't be more perfect. Thank you Lisa and Clive.' - Covey, September 2021
