Set in the gorgeous Dorset countryside close to the pretty village of Wareham, this wonderful retreat for ten offers a hidden away haven for complete relaxation and is a fabulous base from which to explore this beautiful part of England. Step inside and you'll find a home resplendent in natural woods, luxurious furnishings and beautiful views into the lush gardens that surround the house. There are five wonderful bedrooms to choose from, each as lovely as the last, with a real emphasis on younger families too with a great bunk bedroom, playroom, and games in the garden, including a ramp for skateboarding. There's ample living space too, with two living spaces and a bar room, perfect for entertaining whether you're a larger family or a group of friends - this is a wonderful home for celebrations, whether it's a special birthday or Christmas, with the luxurious addition of a bubbling hot tub. Ideally situated to explore the most beautiful parts of Dorset, you're just a 10-minute drive from iconic Lulworth Cove and 20 minutes from Studland, whilst from Wareham you can take a ferry over to Poole and Brownsea Island. For walks on the doorstep, Purbeck House literally backs on to Worget Heath which offers stunning forest walks.
Living

There are plenty of living spaces in which to gather.

Leading from the dining room is a sitting room with armchairs nestled around a roaring open fire, perfect for post-meal drinks or quiet moments. With sleek wooden floors, wood panelled wall and huge room-length window, this is a laid back, cosy room.

This in turn leads onto a fantastic bar room, with more than a nod to '70's chic glamour - the perfect spot to perch on a stool, drinking martinis, or head behind the bar to whip up a cocktail or two.

This room leads on to the main large living room complete with large velvet sofa, armchairs, a swinging chairs and a Smart TV to catch up on boxsets and films. With views over the garden, glass doors lead out on to the grass and can be left open on warm days to let the gorgeous country air flow through - bliss!

Take the hallway to the other side of the house and a large cinema/playroom awaits, complete with full size air hockey table, perfect for young ones complete with en suite bathroom. Beyond this room is a day bedroom complete with four bunk beds and a day bed - the ultimate chill out room!

Eating

The kitchen and dining area is open plan, making it the perfect space for informal entertaining and mealtimes.

The sleek, modern kitchen has beautiful marble worktops, white cabinets, and a concrete island that house everything you'll need for creating feasts for your loved ones, such as an electric oven, induction hob, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, Berkey water filter, Nutribullet, coffee machine and all the other essentials.

In addition, there's a separate utility room at the far end of the house which houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The dining room lies next to the kitchen and has wonderful views over the garden from the huge window that stretches across the width of the room. With wooden floors and a dining table for ten (with additional folding chairs for two), it's a wonderful space for dinner parties and celebratory meals.

Sleeping and bathing

There are five stunning bedrooms to choose from, four en suite, four of which are situated on the first floor and one on the ground floor.

Two of the bedrooms have zip and link beds, meaning they can be made up as twins or super king-sized doubles. The first has a tactile wood panelled wall and flooring, built in wardrobe, dressing table plus a large window overlooking the treetops, and an en suite shower room. The second has dual aspect windows, dressing table, occasional chair an en suite shower room.

There's a further king size bedroom and another double bedroom, both with wooden floors, wood panelled wall and views over the trees. They also both have en suite shower rooms.

Downstairs, there's a fantastic bunk room for four - perfect for little ones.

In addition, there's a downstairs toilet and a bathroom with bath and overhead shower leading off of the cinema/playroom.

Outside space

Outside there's plenty of mature gardens to explore, plus there's a sofa and coffee table, a dining table, benches and barbeque for meals alfresco on the terrace and sun loungers nestled in the grass for lazy sunny afternoons. Kids will love the trampoline, table tennis and skate ramp - plenty to keep them entertained for hours, whilst grown ups will adore the stunning hot tub, perfect for relaxing at the end of the day and watching the stars shine above.

Parking

There's plenty of private, off road parking in front of the retreat.

Babies and children

Babies and children are most welcome at Purbeck House. Please bring your own baby equipment with you.

Dogs

One dog is most welcome at Purbeck House. We charge £35 per dog per week or short break.

In the Area

Set in the gorgeous countryside of Dorset close to Wareham, there's plenty to see and do during your stay. Known as the gateway to Purbeck, Wareham is a pretty market town from which you can catch the ferry across to Poole and Brownsea Island or explore the independent shops and eateries. Head along the coast to Studland and its amazing beaches and nature reserve, visiting the mysterious and abandoned Tyneham village, historic Corfe Castle and the famous steam railway and beaches of Swanage on the way. Head west and the World Heritage site of the Jurassic coast is just a short drive away as is the iconic Durdle Door, pretty Lulworth Cove and Man O'War beach. The South West Coastal Path is a must for walkers, whilst 17th century Lulworth Castle, today home to re-enactments and the famous Camp Bestival (a family-friendly music festival held every July) is well worth a visit too.
