Nestled in the glorious rolling countryside of the Cotswolds lies this beautiful, chocolate-box-pretty cottage. Astoundingly, it began life a thousand years ago as a monestry, today it has been beautifully restored into a dreamy escape for couples, smaller families or friends looking to get away together. Golden-hued limestone exteriors adorned with climbing roses greet you, whilst the aged wooden front door awaits to lead you into the cosy, charming rooms within. Brim-full with stunning original features and luxurious furnishings, you'll be immediately imbued with a feeling of calm and tranquillity at Chantry Cottage, whilst its gorgeous gardens are just wonderful to escape to on a balmy summer's day. Surrounded by fields and woodland, Chantry Cottage lies between the stunning Cotswold towns of Cheltenham and Cirencester, just over two hours from London. It's the perfect escape whether for a weekend or a week, with a host of places to visit whether its exquisite National Trust properties, exploring the picturesque countryside and villages of the Cotswolds or simply to pull on your walking boots and take to the plethora of trails that traverse the landscape.

Living

There are two living spaces to relax in. The sitting room is resplendent with exposed beams, wooden floors and a wood burner, offering cosy warmth and flickering light. In addition, there are two large sofas to sprawl on, plus a Smart TV for movie nights and catching up on your favourite box sets. In addition, you'll find guidebooks here to help you plan your days out.

The second space is a snug complete with moss green sofa and piano, a peaceful spot to catch up with a favourite book or a lazy afternoon snooze.

Eating

Keen cooks will fall in love with the country-chic kitchen with semi-vaulted ceiling and stone floor. Here you'll find everything you'll need to rustle up feats with an induction hob and electric oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, butler's sink with filtered water direct from the tap and all the other essentials. Marble worktops, cream cabinets and dual aspect windows make this a light and airy room.

The dining room lies next door and is just stunning with whitewashed walls, exposed wooden beams, original feature fireplace and lead-lined windows. A large wooden table, with benches and feature lighting above, is the perfect setting for mealtimes.

Sleeping and bathing

There are two stunning bedrooms to choose from.

The master en suite bedroom is a beautiful room with high vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and gorgeous wooden flooring. We just love the original, textured walls in off white, complemented by the vintage fireplace, artwork and French inspired super king-sized bed - this is a dreamy, romantic bedroom to escape to at the end of the day, after a busy day exploring. This lovely room also benefits from a large sitting room-come-dressing room, which boasts a gorgeous chaise lounge, wood burner and a desk for catching up on work should you need to, whilst the stunning en suite comes complete with a roll top bathtub for two and walk in shower. We're in love with the incredible stone sink!

The second bedroom is a cosy spot amongst the eaves, complete with a king-sized bed, occasional chair and chest of drawers plus lovely countryside views.

In addition, there's a separate, large shower room too.

Outdoor space

Step outside and you'll find a pretty garden with exquisite views, aged trees that offer dappled shade on a hot day and a courtyard with a dining table and chairs for six, plus a barbeque for alfresco meals.

Parking

There is private, gated off road parking.

Babies and children

Children over the age of 6 are most welcome at Chantry Cottage. Please note that the second bedroom is at the other end of the house and has stairs leading directly off it.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Chantry Cottage:

Chantry Cottage was perfect for us in every way. Clean, comfortable, secluded, and with beautiful views but with easy access to Cotswold villages and towns so that we didn't feel too cut off. The cottage has a magical feel and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. In fact, don't tell anyone else, we want it all to ourselves!

Just wow...we loved this cottage. Beautifully designed interior, a little of a soho house type vibe, and a great location in a more rugged, remote and more working part of the Cotswolds. Cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Would highly recommend. Do take sturdy slippers, this is a very old property and the floors are uneven. Also take plenty of supplies with you, nearest shop is quite a drive away. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Beautiful cottage with lovely interiors, rustic and quiet. Ideal retreat. The house owner spared no effort to making the cottage a wonderful home away from home! Natasha was very very helpful and welcoming!

Chantry Cottage lived up to our high expectations of an idyllic country cottage in the heart of the English countryside. It was recently renovated and beautifully presented. The owner was easy to contact and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable and memorable.

This is the most charming, magical cottage... we had a beautiful retreat from the world in this timeless space. Views of rolling fields from the windows, period charm, mod-cons- everything you need. Central location in the Cotswolds made it easy to explore. We'd love to come back!
