2 Bedrooms (Sleeps 4 + cot)
As you make your way up the garden path and step through the stable door, you'll not fail to fall for this stunning, 400-year-old thatched cottage. With bags of original features, from the exposed stone walls, wood burning stove and beamed ceilings through to the contemporary touches, such as the underfloor heating, super-luxe beds and fabulously deep, plump sofa, this is a dog-friendly retreat that perfectly blends style with tradition. This tucked-away gem is a comfortable getaway for four, but makes a great little love nest for two and is ideally located to explore the Cotswolds, Oxford and the amazing countryside.
Special 'Just for Two' rate
A special 'Just for Two' rate applies outside of school holidays, peak weeks, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year. At Greenside Cottage the discount is 20%. This is on the basis that only the master bedroom is used during your stay.

Living
The dual-aspect beamed sitting room is a cosy yet light space - perfect for relaxing in. The large Loaf 'Pudding' sofa is super-squishy - made for curling up on in front of the large wood burning stove. We adore the beautiful Persian rug, wide oak floorboards and contemporary artworks, whilst the mid-century armchair and antique Anglo-Indian cabinet make the room truly unique. The cute window seat is the ideal spot for a moment's peace with a cup of tea as you look across the village green, whilst there's a desk and chair too for those who might need to work (though we don't recommend it!).
Eating
The relaxed, country-style kitchen oozes charm while affording modern luxuries. The handmade terracotta tiled floor is cool underfoot during warm summer months, but luxurious underfloor heating means toes are kept cosy during winter. The rustic vintage Welsh dresser filled with antique china, Victorian dining table with ash rush-seat chairs, Belfast sink, and beamed ceiling sit harmoniously next to the Smeg induction range cooker, Nespresso coffee machine and all the other modern-day equipment you'll need to rustle up meals and snacks. This is a warm, friendly space and we love the solid wooden work surfaces, elegant blue cabinets and stable door that leads out into the cottage garden.
Sleeping
There are two gorgeous bedrooms to retire to at the end of the day. The master bedroom, with vaulted beamed ceiling and idyllic views over the village green, boasts a king-sized Loaf 'Margot' bed with sumptuous pillow-top mattress for a blissful night's sleep. In addition, there's a large closet to tuck clothes away in. The second bedroom is equally pretty with a wrought-iron double bed, gorgeous limed oak furniture, beamed vaulted ceiling and a lovely aspect. Both bedrooms have sumptuous bedding and linens to slip between at the end of the day, lovely original artwork, serene Farrow & Ball painted walls and soft Persian rugs.
Bathing
Upstairs you'll find the bright, beamed bathroom with extra-deep bath (for those all-important soaks) and a separate walk-in shower with huge 300mm rainfall head - perfect for waking you up in the morning. There's a heated rail to keep towels warm and fluffy, and we love the Belfast sink too!
Outdoor space
The large, beautifully landscaped cottage garden (abundantly stocked with mature trees, David Austin roses, spring bulbs and fragrant summer perennials) is just divine and comes complete with a sunny terrace area with a teak table under a rose and wisteria-covered pergola, benches and steamer chairs for alfresco meals, as well as a Weber gas BBQ. This lush, south-facing space is an idyllic spot for sundowners - a place to relax in at the end of a busy day out exploring. If you want a lazy day, it's a hideaway from the world when all you want to do is relax with a good book and a G&T. It is completely enclosed and dog safe too.
Parking
There is private parking to the side of the property, plus a charging point for electric cars.
Babies
Babies are welcome, but please bring your own equipment.
Dogs
Two dogs are very welcome at Greenside Cottage. There is a very pretty, fully enclosed garden for dogs to safely explore. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.
WiFi
Greenside Cottage has superfast broadband so if you need to stay in touch with the outside world you can.
In the Area
Greenside Cottage is easily reached, being less than two hours from London, and surrounded by gorgeous countryside to explore. The village of North Aston sits on a bluff above the Cherwell Valley, which has numerous public footpaths perfect for long dog walks. The Cotswolds are on your doorstep and making time to visit the chocolate-box villages and towns is a must - from Stow-on-the-Wold to Bourton-on-the-Water and everywhere in between. Of course, you're close to Oxford so a day exploring this stunning university town is a must - whether it's delving in the museums, visiting a college or two or enjoying bit of retail therapy in the covered market. There are fabulous places to eat too, from country inns to chic restaurants. Half the fun is discovering them for yourself, but close by you'll find The White Horse in Duns Tew, SoHo Farmhouse in Great Tew and Daylesford Organic in Kingham are all nearby, while the excellent Yurt Café at Nicholson's Nursery is literally around the corner from the cottage.
