Warm and welcoming, this pretty home stay is a perfect getaway for those seeking a laid back yet still luxurious retreat with everything on hand to make your stay as simple and relaxing as possible. With warm, muted colours throughout, stylish antiques abound here, and the quality is clear to see. Inspired by Delftware, you'll find antique pieces of Delft pottery throughout the property with interior design books on Delft on the coffee table. Part of the Compton Castle estate, this ravishing retreat is just perfect for exploring the unspoilt countryside around the Somerset/Dorset boarder whilst handily close to Bath if you're after a spot of city life.
Living
The sitting room is just stunning with a pretty and bijoux wood burning stove and gorgeous antique grey velvet and wood antique chairs and sofa, accented with blue and grey cushions - just made for curling up on at the end of the day to watch the flickering fire. Complemented with grey finishing touches, inspired by the Swedish style of Hygge Living, snuggly warm rugs and candles, glorious lifestyle illustrated books with Swedish cook books to help you deeply relax, this is a chic, welcoming hideaway from the outside world.
Eating
To the far end of the living room you'll find the dining room with a pretty round dining table for six (perfect for special meals or maybe a board game or two!). French windows lead out into the garden so on summer nights you can let the warm flower-scented breeze waft through.
The kitchen is a lovely space with a real country feel. With wooden floors throughout, a period dresser, additional country-style table and seating for eight, bespoke artisan and antique ceramics are displayed on huge shelves, grey Cornishware & pewter serving dishes add to the Hygge theme in the kitchen too. The shaker kitchen itself is beautifully equipped and has everything you will need to rustle up meals for your loved ones, from the Rangemaster oven and fully integrated appliances to the all-important Nespresso coffee machine and breakfast bar for snacks on the go or if you just want to watch the chef at work.
Sleeping
There are three lovely bedrooms upstairs to discover; the master en suite bedroom is a symphony in white and cream with an antique Victorian brass super-king size bed, whilst the second bedroom has a gorgeous antique French country king size bed. The third bedroom has twin antique dark wooden beds, very Downton Abbey and perfect for little ones. All three bedrooms have Yves Delorme cotton linens, Binkhaus bedding and gorgeous soft furnishings such as alpaca throws - the perfect setting for long sleeps and lazy lie ins. There is also a separate dressing room upstairs with full length hanging space, a sofa, and plenty of space to keep wedding attire safe and sound. You could tuck a travel cot in this room too.
Bathing
The en suite to the master bedroom has a simple shower room with walk in shower whilst there's a family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. Both have heated rails to keep towels warm and fluffy.
Outdoor space
There's a large enclosed garden with plenty of lawn space for games on the lawn, whilst you can enjoy a spot of outside dining on the table, chairs and barbeque - perfect!
