This blissful beauty is simply divine! Astonishingly restored, a great deal of love and effort has gone into preserving the original features of this converted church as much as possible. Resplendent William Morris print, both on the walls and on the furniture, compliment the warm golden sandstone and wooden features throughout, and the immense vaulted ceiling, original stained-glass windows and rich wooden flooring create a cosy feel in an otherwise immensely spacious retreat. Less than two hours from London, this is a fantastic getaway for short breaks or longer holidays, with the natural beauty of the South Downs and High Weald on your doorstep as well as the fab south coast including vibrant Brighton and historical Bexhill and Hastings.
Living and eating

In keeping with its original design, the whole of the ground floor of St Mary's is open plan to make the most of the incredible architecture, from the wonderful windows, immense stone archways, huge vaulted ceiling and beautifully carved wooden panels of the altar. With warm honey-coloured wooden floors throughout, exquisite antique furniture and touches of William Morris wallpaper in the alcoves of the windows, the effect is simply beautiful.

Close to the altar you'll find a cluster of chairs (also bedecked in William Morris, or rich teal-coloured velvet) alongside an immense wood burner for chillier nights.

The pretty, neat kitchen has everything you'll need to rustle up a meal or two whilst the dining table, nestled on a gorgeous Turkish rug, lies close to French windows which open on to the garden - perfect for letting the warm summer breeze through on balmy evenings.

Sleeping

There are three gorgeous bedrooms, each located on the mezzanine level high amongst the eaves of this fascinating former church. The master en suite bedroom is uber-luxe with a vaulted ceiling, gorgeous stained-glass windows and the most ornate, Gothic-style dark wooden king-size bed in which to drift off to sleep. There are two further double bedrooms, each with stunning wooden beds, gorgeous antique furniture, vaulted ceilings and William Morris prints.

Bathing

The en suite to the master bedroom has a bath with separate walk in shower, whilst there's an additional shower room downstairs with large walk in shower.

Outdoor space

Being a church, St Mary's does have an atmospheric churchyard next door, but additionally for guests there's a lovely little garden complete with swing, table and chairs for a spot of outside dining, barbeque and a gazebo.

WiFi

St Mary's is WiFi ready, so you can keep in touch with the outside world should you want to.

Dogs

Dogs are very welcome at St Mary's - we charge £30 per dog per stay.

Parking

There is private parking for up to three cars directly outside St Mary's.

In the Area

St Mary's is situated within the lush, pretty countryside of East Sussex, with loads to do right on its doorstep.
