The Roseland: a place of unquestionable natural beauty. Whether you are revelling in the adventure of country lanes, wandering through lush rolling fields, pottering around villages or enjoying the calm of the River Fal and the wild of the Atlantic, there is something for everyone to fall in love with here.
And, in case you needed any more reason to visit, here’s one more for you: Curgurrell Farm Shop. Located in the charming fishing village of Portscatho, Curgurrell Farm Shop is run by Charlotte and Simon Taffinder. Helped along by their sons Ben, William and Tom and family-friend Chris Chesterfield, this little gem is open six days a week and rewards visitors with some of the finest quality produce around.
Selling a variety of both local and home-grown fruit, vegetables and eggs and homemade preserves and scones, you can savour a real taste of the Roseland. Changing with the seasons, look forward to an ever-updated assortment with each visit and have fun picking out your favourites. From asparagus in May to blackberries in September and much more, you can take goodies home with you or head straight out for a picnic on the shoreline.
That’s not all though. Lucky enough to have a small harbour at the bottom of their farm, Curgurrell Farm Shop sells a range of mouth-watering seafood. Treat yourself to some freshly picked crab meat or check out the catch of the day; some of the regular catches include sea bass, turbot, mackerel and sole. With over 20 years’ experience behind them, the shop has gathered a loyal following, so it’s worth phoning in advance to secure your selection.
Open from Easter to November, Monday to Saturday between 10am and 6pm, make sure you pop in and say hello. When you get there, ask about son Ben’s artwork too, as he captures the essence of his home landscapes and the sea in his paintings.
