The Forest of Bowland, an AONB, is a must-visit too, with fells, idyllic villages, riverside footpaths and woodland to explore. Lancaster is also famed for its canals, with the longest lock-free stretch of canal in England. A walk along a towpath is a must, often dotted with canalside pubs!
