What is a B Corporation?

Better Corporations, more commonly known as B Corps, are a community of over 6,000 global organisations with a shared aim to illustrate their positive impact on both people and planet.

Each organisation concerned must pass a thorough assessment process, to review and verify not simply the service we offer, but how we conduct ourselves with care and responsibility for people and planet. This assessment reviews five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers, areas which we have always held ourselves to a high standard, and B Corp provided us with a platform to put these standards to the test.

The certification process required us to provide evidence relating to all aspects of social and environmental responsibility, from water use and energy supplies to diversity and transparency in the workplace. Required to reach a benchmark score of over 80, we are incredibly proud to have received a score of 90.2.

What does being a B Corp mean to us?

We entered the realm of holiday letting in 2007, based on three core values: people, place and prosperity. Over those years, we’ve always held people as the heart of our business, from the owners and guests who make our company possible, to our amazing team members who allow the company to evolve and succeed. People are the soul of our business and will always be at the very core of what we do and why we do it.

B Corp has enabled us to celebrate all the things we already do and find ways to expand on our positive impact. Our verification process revealed areas where we already excel and areas that ignite our passion for development. Whether that’s installing solar panels, creating local purchasing goals, or encouraging our employees to make the most of their annual volunteering days, so we can continue to support our local communities.

Whilst we have evolved over the years, we have stayed true to our core values and are so proud of every member of the team who have journeyed with us. There’s still ways we can continue to develop and advance towards our goals, and we are committed to elevating our work in every area. As a team, we are delighted to have achieved B Corp status and we look forward to all the future has in store for us.
