Set within verdant countryside and only a few miles from the Caribbean-esque beaches and glistening marinas of Falmouth and the Roseland, it affords a sumptuous sanctuary for two people to relish days of romantic escapism. Designed in perfect homage to nature and blending with the beautiful countryside that unfurls beyond its boundaries, it features super-insulated wood-clad walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a private deck overlooking graceful eucalyptus trees and topped with a bubbling hot tub. Spend magical moments following country lanes and coastal roads to find hidden gems, before returning to your dreamlike abode to savour golden hour moments and champagne sunsets at Cedar.
Eco Escapism
Cedar is part of The Emerald, an award-winning development which is the only truly zero carbon holiday destination in the country having been awarded Code 6 status, the highest possible grading for eco efficiency. Within the five acres of shared grounds is a solar farm which generates all the energy The Emerald needs and more. You’ll find two useful Tesla charging points for electric cars on site (please bring your own adaptor for other makes). The owners politely ask that you state on arrival if you plan to take advantage of this service, as it is chargeable.
Living
Luxuriating in the comforts of Cedar’s open-plan living area is a dream, tempted by the lure of pared-back Scandi aesthetics and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a spacious outside deck. Styled in a soft, earthy palette, it has a bespoke baton timber feature wall, contrasted with off-white walls and hessian-hued 100% Portuguese linen curtains. Oh-so-cosy, its deep sofa is topped with Harlequin sofa cushions and complemented by an oversized antiqued rug and solid mango wood coffee table. Still life artwork adorns this soothing space, while pops of greenery in the form of leafy potted plants harmonise with the views beyond the windows. For leisurely mornings and evenings of entertainment curled up on the sofa, there is a Smart TV with Netflix, an iPod dock and unlimited WiFi.
Eating and dining
Adjoining the lounge, the fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for preparing delicious feasts. Exuding Scandi vibes, it features chic cabinets with an organic wood finish, paired with pearly countertops providing ample space to flex your culinary creativity. For rustling up meals, a range of appliances and accoutrements are ingeniously stowed within a minimalist design, while for dreamy tipples, an espresso machine for fresh morning coffee and a wine fridge for those perfectly chilled moments await. At the centre of the kitchen, a beautiful kitchen island with matching stools takes pride of place, offering plenty of space for crafting culinary creations. Adding extra choice for feasting, an additional dining table and chairs reside in the adjoining lounge ready for magical mealtimes in Boutique bliss.
Sleeping and bathing
Cedar's spacious bedroom beckons for sumptuous repose, decorated in olive and off-white hues and harmonised with organic textures. Uncover the super-king bed with Nkuku mango wood and rattan bed frame, swathed in luxurious linens and promising dreamy views over the decking space. A stylish wardrobe, chest of drawers and antique desk offer ample storage, while fine stripe Nkuku armchairs cater to moments of tranquillity. Adjoining the bedroom, the ensuite bathroom boasts toasty under-floor heating, a walk-in rainfall shower, and free-standing bathtub for two for soothing soaks.
Indoor swimming pool and gym
A true sanctuary, Cedar proposes moments of relaxation with a shared, indoor heated swimming pool, fully equipped gym with Bose speakers, and an all-weather outdoor tennis court with new, state of the art synthetic grass enabling year-round play. Lounge poolside at your leisure or fine-tune your skills with tennis coaching onsite with an experienced, national-level tennis coach for the ultimate retreat.
Spa room
For an extra heavenly experience, there is spa room onsite which offers a luxurious range of bespoke massages and treatments, including Caci treatments. Please do get in touch if this is something you wish to arrange.
Outdoor space
Seek storybook moments from sunrise to sunset, Cedar’s glass-fronted deck enjoys a beautiful aspect overlooking manicured lawns and mature trees. Sheltered by timber fences and adorned with comfortable furnishings, it features an outdoor table and chairs, two loungers, a sun parasol and a bubbling hot tub. Set low into the deck outside the bedroom, the hot tub is especially tempting and sets a romantic scene for evening soaks and chilled-out nighttime dips with underwater lighting. Beyond the deck, you are invited to make the most of five acres of woodland and beautifully maintained grounds, following the flow of your footsteps and savouring the peaceful surroundings. For more magic, bundle up a picnic and find a spot beneath the dappled light of the trees for enchanting moments together in the heart of Cornwall’s heavenly pastoral landscape.
Parking
There is parking for two cars either right outside the door or by the garden gate.
Babies and children
One babe in arms is welcome at Cedar, a travel and highchair are available upon request.
Dogs
Two well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Cedar. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

Nestled in the winsome Cornish village of Carnon Downs, Cedar is perfectly placed for exploring the delights of South Cornwall. From glorious countryside scenes to glistening coastalscapes, a never-ending reel awaits. To immerse yourself in otherworldly natural beauty, look forward to enchanting days out at the National Trust’s Trelissick Estate, where expansive gardens tumble down to meet winding river paths for magical valley walks. Just a short ferry trip away, the Roseland Peninsula beckons for further exploration, with a gorgeous coastline etched with hidden coves and sprawling, golden-sand beaches. For cyclists, the Bissoe Trail is a real treat and passes close to Cedar, affording mile upon mile of mostly traffic-free, smooth trail.
To reward your adventures with the finest cuisine, The Punchbowl and Ladle is less than two miles away from Cedar and proposes a menu of hearty dishes, including divine Sunday roasts. For alfresco meals with a gourmet twist, The Hidden Hut near Portscatho on the Roseland delivers incredible summer feast nights above the beach, while for fine-dining, The Idle Rocks in St Mawes and Driftwood in Portscatho turn heads with Michelin-recommended fare. Down the road in Falmouth, Culture and The Star and Garter serve award-winning dishes, while The Pandora Inn and The Working Boat present atmospheric waterside settings in which to enjoy a drink or two.
