Go on - you deserve it.

Living

The spacious and open-plan living area has two large, grey Loaf sofas on to which you can collapse after a day at the beach or out exploring. There's a gorgeous wood burning stove for cooler days, whilst white walls complemented by a featured wall of whitewashed wood bring instant calm. Clever lighting, bright artwork and a stylish coffee table adds warm and colourful touches. Additionally, there's a handy study area if you need to catch up on some work or check emails adjacent to the unique glass and steel staircase.

Eating

The stunning ground floor kitchen and dining area lie to the rear of Florence and is a brilliant, sociable space for family or friends to gather and eat. The streamlined kitchen - in shades of white and dark blue - offers plenty of prep space for the pickiest Nigel or Nigella. Jam-packed with all the essentials such as a double oven, induction hob, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, it also has a host of other gadgets, so you can rustle up anything from a simple brekkie (which you can munch on the handy breakfast bar) to a lavish feast. A utility room with washing machine, tumble drier and microwave is situated behind the kitchen.

The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and is a simple space. A tactile wooden table seats eight easily and floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors bring in lashings of light as do the pretty white and copper lights suspended above. The bi-fold doors can be opened fully in warmer weather, bringing the outside in, to create the perfect summer mood.

Sleeping

The four bedrooms offer peaceful, simple retreats, in which to retire at the end of a busy day exploring, or a relaxing day on the beach. Swathed in gorgeous linens and throws and decorated in simple shades of whites, soft blues and natural woods these mini havens that really evoke the soul of the sea. Two of the large double rooms, together with the twin room (perfect for the younger family members) have fabulous views to the sea whils the fourth looks out over the landscaped, terraced gardens. There is also access to a shared balcony from two of the bedrooms, ideal for a peaceful morning coffee.

Bathing

Two of the double bedrooms boast ensuite shower rooms, whilst the third double and the twin share a large family bathroom, complete with huge walk in shower and freestanding bath. Each has a heated rail to keep towels fluffy and warm. On the ground floor, just off the entrance hall, there is a further shower room, perfect for a quick splash after a day on the beach, or hosing down children or dogs!

Outside space

The garden at Florence is a series of lovely terraces with the most beautiful views of the south coastline, across Gerrans Bay, to The Nare Head and Gull Rock. At the top of the garden is a lovely 'studio' which has its own kitchenette and WC. On the huge decking area, there's plenty of outside seating and a charcoal barbeque for a spot of alfresco dining. Please note that due to the steep steps, care should be taken with small children at all times.

In the Area

Portscatho is a traditional fishing village, with a small harbour, on the stunning Roseland Peninsula, situated on the south coast of Cornwall. Pretty and pastoral, with hidden coves and beaches, this side of the county is much softer and more protected than its rugged neighbour the north coast.

There's so much to do in this wonderful part of Cornwall, whether it's exploring the beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan, Carne and Pendower, walking the stunning South West Coastal Path or visiting the plethora of gardens which make the most of the warmer climate - such as Trelissick Gardens or The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

With lots of great places to eat and drink, you'll be spoilt for choice. The local pub, The Plume of Feathers, is in the heart of the village, just a minutes' walk from Florence and serves great food and a large selection of drinks. The Harbour Club enjoys great views of Gerrans Bay from its large balcony and welcomes visitors for a nominal members fee. From the newly established restaurant below you can enjoy wonderful, locally produced food from the simple open grill in a bustling atmosphere, or order something to take-away and eat in the peace and quiet of Florence. The Driftwood is a Michelin-starred restaurant just a short hop away, and for something a little different head to The Hidden Hut, situated on the cliffs above Porthcurnick Beach. Just a few miles down the road, St Mawes also has a number of great restaurants to offer, including the renown Tresanton Hotel and the Idle Rocks.

Our luxury seaside retreat on the Roseland Peninsula promises a dreamy escape for eight and is within walking distance of the beach - it's dog friendly too!

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Florence:

Absolutely wonderful house in a lovely small village location but with everything we needed for a fabulous stay.

A fabulous family holiday in this brilliant house. Thank you

We loved this retreat, its position and the ambience within the retreat. We were a mixed age family group and it was perfect!

The house and location are fantastic. Super comfortable house and beds with beautiful linens. Well equipped kitchen and fantastic dining area too.

Great cottage in an excellent location. Amazing views, and close to the village centre but away from any noise. Great size open spaces made spending time with the family easy. We love Portscatho

Good location, nice area Welcome pack a nice touch Good to have own parking Service when booking excellent

Beautiful property, in equally lovely location with all you need for a great family getaway.

Amazing location, fantastic space for a large family and great that it is dog friendly.

Exceptionally comfortable. Very well positioned for walking to the beach.

This is a large and very comfortable cottage only a few minutes from the sea and the coastal path. In November it was windy and rainy so we didn't make much use of the garden, but the views from the lodge at the top were spectacular. The cottage has everything you could possibly need - well provisioned kitchen, comfy beds, excellent hot showers and lots of social space downstairs. The parking area is a bit tight - you'll need good turning and reversing skills and ideally leave the minibus behind! Otherwise Florence is perfect for a getaway with family and friends.

The location of this cottage is perfect, easy to access everything in the village. It is also really well stocked so you have everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Florence is a perfect place for a family holiday, well situated and very well equipped. Thank you.

Great house, well equipped, great location and very comfortable for 7 adults. Seeing the sea from the property was a bonus. Would love to return to Portscatho. A great place to have a family get together with the open plan living area. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

It's a great property in a great location! Perfect for a large family.

We had a fantastic stay at Florence. It is a lovely house in a perfect location. All the rooms are well designed and equipped and the owner could not have been more helpful. I'd give it a five star review

Lovely property. Excellently appointed. Modern. Clean. Great location. We’d go again for sure!

A beautiful, spacious property in a gorgeous part of Cornwall which still feels unspoilt. We would definitely book this house again.

Honestly, it doesn’t come much better!

Florence is a very stylish, well equipped and well located property. Very comfortable and very clean with parking for two cars and good wifi. We loved the terrace at the top of the garden with stunning views over Portscatho, Porthcurno beach and out to sea. Great location within walking distance of the Plume of Feathers pub, The Harbour Club and The Hidden Hut cafe.

Florence is the perfect option for a "get away from it all" break. Decorated to an exceptional standard, spacious with a fluid living area. It is walking distance to the beach and boasts some spectacular costal walks. We loved it.

Simply stunning! I've been visiting the Roseland and in particularly Portscatho on and off since I was a child so, some 45 odd years and to put it as plainly as I can it's hands down the best property I have ever stayed in bar none.

We felt the house was perfect - the welcome tray was really generous and super quality too - thank you!

Great location and beautiful property. Lovely gesture with the welcome pack. Could not fault our holiday in this fab house .Thank you!

'Simply stunning! I've been visiting the Roseland and in particularly Portscatho on and off since I was a child so, some 45 odd years and to put it as plainly as I can it's hands down the best property I have ever stayed in bar none' - October 2020

'A great stay in a lovely location. Thank you' - September 2020

'Stunning, we loved it' - July 2020

'We loved our stay at Florence. It is a new build, so doesn't have the charm of an old Cornish cottage, but we found it really practical with our toddler - spacious areas to play in, and easy to keep clean. Because it's new, it's also very well insulated and was very warm during our chilly March stay - we didn't need to put the fire on once! It was absolutely spotless when we arrived, and it was a lovely touch having a hamper of local goodies - including eggs, bread, milk, butter - to save us making a trip to the shop on the first day. It was also so useful having basics like oil, spices, pasta, rice, tea bags, coffee, dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc. already there from previous guests - we really appreciated not having to buy those things ourselves! The location couldn't be better in the middle of the charming village of Portscatho, less than a minute's walk to the local shop, butcher, excellent cafe (the Boathouse), excellent pub (The Plume of Feathers) and beautiful art gallery. And about a 2 minute walk to the beach! Overall, absolutely excellent, and we are already planning our next trip to Portscatho!' - March 2020

'Excellent stay. The house was very well equipped and comfortable. We didn't want for anything and the welcome provisions were very generous and thoughtful.' - February 2020

'We loved it so much that we have already booked to return there for a week in July 2020!' - July 2019

'Superb location and property. Ben was an absolute delight to deal with and made us feel very welcome' - June 2019

'Lovely property and helpful host!' - February 2019
