Take a stroll to the Lizard Point’s Polpeor Café, but don’t walk too far as the next stop is the open sea. Boasting fantastic views that can be enjoyed inside or out, Polpeor unsurprisingly draws visitors from all over the world.
England’s most southerly cafe, Polpeor Café sits in a truly unique position atop the cliffs, surrounded by breath-taking views. From the summer’s glassy seas and blue skies to winter’s tumultuous waves and howling wind, the beauty of Mother Nature can be enjoyed year-round from the cafe. Mind your fork doesn’t miss your mouth as you take in the stunning panoramic views though!
Unlike many eateries that are blessed with fantastic locations, Polpeor Café doesn’t let its vantage point detract from the quality of its food. Serving delicious, home-made meals using locally sourced goods, the food here will leave you thoroughly satisfied and ready to come back for more. From thick sandwiches full of fresh, handpicked crab meat to the homemade fish pie to the irresistible cream teas, you can take your pick from a range of delectable dishes.
With good accessibility, there are a number of car parks you can leave your car in nearby. Or if you fancy stretching your legs you can also walk to the café from the Lizard village, which will take you about 15 minutes along a gravel track. If you have a dog, feel free to bring your four-legged friend along too for an unforgettable feast.
Once you’ve finished your main, you can treat yourself to an enticing dessert, whether it be the homemade crumble or scoops of your favourite ice cream. When you are ready, head back to the car or go for a stroll along the South West Coast Path which is easily accessible nearby and takes in some of the most fabulous scenery in Cornwall. Keep an eye out for the resident seals who live in the sea around the Point too.
