Situated right in the heart of oh-so-desirable Fowey on the south Cornish coast, The Glass House is a unique waterside retreat for six lucky people offering a peaceful, picturesque escape. Through use of world-leading architectural design, the extensive use of glass ensures guests have the best views of the estuary and on warmer days offers lots of outdoor living space too. Inside, interiors are light, beautiful and stylish, whilst underfloor heating throughout means you'll always be warm and cosy. Whether you're a family, a group of friends or even a couple wanting lots of space, this wonderful, beautifully engineered home stay is just perfect.
Fowey itself is a fabulous town with an eclectic mix of artisanal and independent shops, top-notch restaurants and a host of activities from kayaking and hiring a boat to exploring the South West Coastal path.
Living
The sitting room lies on the ground floor and has plenty of comfy seating for six on the luxurious Italian sofa, plus there's a swivel chair and a beanbag. Sliding glass doors open out onto the sea-facing deck to create even more space. For entertainment, there's a huge SMART television with internet and Freeview.
In addition, there's a snug on the second floor with a sofa and a smaller SMART television - perfect for little ones.
Eating
Located on the first floor, the stunning Boffi kitchen with floor-to-ceiling glass wall is incredibly stylish but fully equipped with everything you'll need to create culinary masterpieces with a Gaggenau electric oven, gas hob, Nespresso coffee machine, Miele dishwasher, ice making machine and everything else you might need. There's also a great breakfast bar for meals on the go, plus there's a television too. Of course, you're just steps from wonderful places to eat too, whilst there's a plethora of delis and specialist shops to pick up some tasty goodies.
Across the hallway lies the wonderful dining room with huge windows overlooking the water plus a balcony with chairs. The stylish Italian dining table seats six comfortably and is a perfect spot for a dinner party - perhaps featuring seafood picked up locally - and a Bose sound system to add ambience to any meal.
Sleeping and bathing
We reckon that the only thing you'll argue over on holiday is which of the four sumptuous rooms you must choose from! The gorgeous en suite master bedroom with a king size bed is on the top floor and has amazing dual-aspect windows, vaulted ceiling and sky light to make this a light, bright and peaceful space. Glass doors open on to the balcony with chairs for two to allow you, on summer nights, to leave the doors open to let the sea breeze and the sound of the waves lull you to sleep. Next to the bedroom lies the huge, beautiful bathroom with an immense freestanding bath tub for two, huge walk-in shower, vaulted ceiling and heated towel rail.
On the second floor lies the second bedroom with a king size bed, floor-to-ceiling bay window overlooking the estuary and a secondary window which adds extra light into this lovely room. We just love the little yellow velvet window seat - a perfect spot for a quiet hour or so with a good book or simply gazing out over the water. This bedroom has use of a shower room opposite with large walk in shower.
The third bedroom is on the ground floor tucked away behind an eye-catching leather wall. With a king size bed and sliding doors onto a deck, this is a lovely, light bedroom with a huge walk-in shower and sink within the room. There's a separate loo on this floor. There's also a lovely double bedroom dressed in soft shades of grey, just made for the most blissful of slumbers.
All the bedrooms come complete with sumptuous bedding and luxurious linens to ensure a wonderful nights' sleep, plus a DAB digital radio.
Outdoor space
There are four balconies to choose from. Leading off from the kitchen is a large balcony with views of the sea, plenty of seating for eight and a charcoal barbeque for the dreamiest al fresco dining set up. To the front of the property leading off from the dining room is another smaller balcony with all-encompassing sea views and seating. On the ground floor, accessible from the sitting room and bedroom, is yet more space with chairs and glass panelling so as not to spoil the unique sea views close to the water level (there is also water access via metal stairs). Finally, there's a balcony in the master bedroom with a table and chairs - perfect for a sunny, private breakfast for two.

In the Area
Fowey has an excellent choice of places to eat, from Sam's for seafood and steak choices to The Old Quay House for fine dining. There's also a host of cafes, pubs and tea rooms, plus some brilliant bakeries (why not pop out in the morning and pick up freshly-baked pastries for breakfast?). Water sports enthusiasts might like to try their hand at paddle boarding, kayaking or sailing (you can hire boats from town quay). Nearby Readymoney Cove is a lovely sandy beach you can walk to, whilst nearby Par beach is dog friendly all year. For walkers, join the South West Coastal Path and head in either direction for lovely walks with stunning views, whilst you can catch the ferry over to Polruan which has lots of National Trust land to explore or Station wood, which is just on the edge of town. Further afield is The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project and Charlestown, most recently made famous by 'Poldark' and the stunning South coast. You might like to head North towards Padstow, the Camel Estuary, Rock and Polzeath for wilder beaches - great for surfing.
We would advise making restaurant reservations ahead of your stay, as restauarants in Fowey are heavily booked up throughout the year.
