Nestled in the glorious countryside of the north Cornish coast close to Tintagel, Boscastle and St Nectan's Glen lies this exquisite homestay for eight lucky people - and their dog.
Trebrea Lodge is a Grade II* listed home, a distinguished Cornish country house dating from the 14th and 18th Centuries with a rich history. Local legend is that the Bray family who owned the property were involved in smuggling and that there is a tunnel in the grounds! Completely remodelled in 2021, today it benefits from sophisticated wallcoverings, Italian designer furniture and high end audio and visual equipment.
The clever owner has created a chic, glorious retreat where modern minimalist design blends perfectly with the original style and character of the house, creating a light, bright coastal home with panoramic sea views that's the epitome of laid-back loveliness, whilst outside you'll discover a spacious garden for everyone to enjoy, just perfect. Promising spectacular 180-degree views over sunsets to the west, visible from every window and the front facade of the retreat, stunning moments await at sundown.
Dog friendly and perfect for larger families, groups of friends or just couples seeking plenty of space, this is a stylish escape for those looking to explore the best of the north Cornish coast, whilst being tucked away enough to be a deliciously quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle.
Living
A wonderful welcome awaits on entering the gorgeous reception hall, where heated slate floors lead to the cinema room. A plush Arketipo loft sofa lies in front of the 55-inch Bang Olufsen television - perfect for film nights - and a classically styled Chevilotte pool table. There are commanding sea views from two eye-catching sash windows if you prefer some no-screen time! A stunning tall frameless glass door offers an alternative view over the tiered gardens, whilst a Chesneys white marble fire offers cosy flickering light during cooler months. A Naim music streamer is on hand to ensure you're always accompanied by your favourite tunes.
Take the stairs up to the galleried landing to the exquisite, sunshine yellow drawing room. Three sash windows let the light flood in and afford superb countryside and sea views. The opulent furnishings create a relaxing oasis with a spacious sofa offering plenty of room for sprawling in front of the Chesneys fireplace, whilst the heated oak floors provide additional warmth on cooler days.
Eating
You'll discover the kitchen at the end of the house. Invoking a minimalist style, tall sash windows let in plenty of light, as well as having tremendous countryside and sea views as well as over the tranquil, tiered rear gardens. The heated slate flagstone floor ensures toes are always toasty warm, whilst the huge, bespoke oak table takes centre stage. Extending to almost 17 foot, it forms both a central island for prepping as well as informal dining for six people.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything a cook should need, such as the Wolf dual fuel range oven with two large ovens, six gas rings, an electric barbeque and a teppanyaki. In addition, there's a Gaggenau fridge (plus secondary fridge/freezer), Miele dishwasher, washing machine and all the other essentials needed to rustle up culinary delights for your loved ones (or get someone to do it for you).
There's also a fabulous, more formal dining room, the perfect setting for celebrations and dinner parties around the table that seats ten. With three tall sash windows, the room offers plenty of light and sea views, whilst the white marble Chesneys fireplace with slate hearth is a welcome addition on cooler days. The chic slate flagstone floor is blessed with underfloor heating too.
