For a touch of magic in the wilderness, look no further than this beauty. A bespoke shepherds hut, carefully paired with a glamourous Bedouin tent and accompanied by a wood-fired hot tub, it is the ultimate woodland escape for those seeking an escape from the everyday.

Surrounded by woodland with glimpses of the surrounding Cornish countryside, peace reigns in this tucked-away spot, a glorious hideaway for two, plus your furry friend is most welcome too should you have one. Private pottery lessons, and spa treatments in the Bedouin tent can be booked in advance or why not have a picnic in the surrounding woodland? Moonshine really is a retreat away from it all.

Should you wish to go out and explore the best of Cornwall, Moonshine is the perfect holiday home for you. Although it's tucked away, Moonshine is only a 15-minute drive to Perranporth (recently named the best beach in the South West in The Sunday Time's 50 Best Beaches in the UK), your nearest beach on the north Cornish coast. You're also just a short drive from Cornwall's capital Truro and 40 minutes from bustling Falmouth on the south coast, so there's plenty of choice, whatever your tastes may be.

Living, eating and sleeping

Set at the far end of a peaceful estate, Moonshine sits just in front of woodland, surrounded by trees and with a small orchard set in front. Step up and into the main shepherd hut and you'll find a cosy space, bedecked in blues and whites. During the day, there's seating and a dining table to the right, whilst at night this easily transforms into an oh-so-comfy double bed, that's cleverly tucked away in the wall when not needed. From bed you can gaze out of the window over the tranquil orchard - just lovely! You'll find storage space under the bench seats to store your things.

For eating, there's a charming kitchen area with ceramic hob, a fridge, kettle, toaster and French press coffee pot. In addition, the fire pit outside is great for barbequing. To keep the space oh-so-cosy whatever time of year it is, there's a fabulous wood burner that'll keep you warm.

Just a few steps away lies the Bedouin tent, a wonderful space for relaxing in complete with chairs, cushions to sprawl on and games to play. There's also a handy chest of drawers for storing belongings should you need it. At night, the twinkling lights that bedeck the tent add a luminosity to the space that's truly magical.

The Bedouin tent will be unavailable between 8th October 2024 and 18th April 2025.

Please note that Moonshine is equipped with WiFi and a smart speaker, but no television for that ultimate getaway-from-it-all experience.

Bathing

Moonshine has a shower room for wake-me-up ablutions or after a busy day out exploring. A heated rail means towels are always kept warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

Between the shepherds hut and tent lies the wood-fired hot tub, a fabulous luxury for this amazing retreat and just perfect for lounging in to watch the stars above at night, listening to the sounds of owls with a glass of something special in hand, or for relaxing tired limbs after a long coastal walk. In addition, there's a fire pit with log stools and sheepskin rugs, just made for toasting s'mores or marshmallows, whilst there's a grill to go on top, ideal for barbequing. For relaxing there's a pair of steamer lounge chairs as well as outdoor bean bags - ideal for lazing on a hot summer's afternoon. Alternatively, take yourselves off into the private woodland behind you, and set up camp amongst the trees and admire the bucolic views of the fields and hedgerows beyond- a picnic here is just lovely!

Setting

There is a public footpath along the bottom of the orchard in which Moonshine is set. Please note, whilst this is rarely used you may note walkers from time to time.

Parking

There is off road, private parking for one car at Moonshine, with access to an electric car charging point. The Owners will kindly ask for a contribution for use of this throughout your stay. Payment can be arranged during your stay with owner.

Babies and children

This is one of our adults-only retreats.

Dogs

Moonshine welcomes one small, well-behaved dog. There's an outside tap and hose for washing muddy toes. The woodland and garden aren't enclosed, so please always supervise your dog and keep them on a lead if they are prone to wandering off. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

More than two of you?

The estate is shared with one other shepherds hut - Stargazer. So, if you're looking to stay with another friend or couple, they can be booked together.

The Longest Beaches in Cornwall

Cornwall is home to many beautiful beaches: the golden frontiers between land and sea. But which are the longest beaches in Cornwall, and where can you find them?

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Moonshine:

Moonshine is the perfect cosy retreat for newlyweds! We had a wonderful week in Cornwall & enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of Truro. We were able to see much of Cornwall by car from Moonshine & the retreat had all the amenities we needed for a short stay involving lots of exploring!

We had a delightful stay at your holiday cottage. The location was perfect for a relaxing getaway, and the cozy, well-decorated interior made us feel right at home. We particularly enjoyed the private orchard and the thoughtful addition of the fire pit.

Had a wonderful stay at Moonshine, a beautiful and peaceful retreat. Well located if you want to explore different areas of Cornwall.

The moonshine hut was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. It was such a pleasure to stay there and being able to bring our dog Milo made it even better. I can't fault anything in the retreat and the owners were so lovely and there if we needed anything at all! Thank you for a great relaxing honeymoon and we can't wait to come back!

A very relaxing stay in a beautiful retreat. Thank you

Absolutely loved our stay at Moonshine, we were away for our first wedding anniversary and it was so special. The hosts were great, everything was clean and well equipped and our little dog had the time of his life. Thank you so much for such a lovely, relaxing stay.

Such a lovely, peaceful and relaxing place. The sheperds hut was wonderful. Highly recommend.

Very clean and relaxing. Beautifully set out and felt so welcome. We have every intention of returning sometime in the not too distant future.

A life-changing stay. This retreat was everything I was looking for to create the perfect proposal setting. An incredible retreat, a private garden with the most romantic lighting, a bedouin tent (just in case of rain) and an authentic hot tub. We were able to sleep immediately under the stars thanks to the stargazing possibilities in the roof. Surroundings were breathtaking, quiet and peaceful. Sarah helped us finding our way around with perfect tips for local food and fun things to see and do around. But most of all, Sarah moved heaven and earth to make my proposal the best one I could've ever dreamed of. A million thanks for all the efforts taken, and we will definitely be back. INCREDIBLE.

all in all had a great relaxing break, peace and quiet with just the birds singing and the odd wood pecker in the back ground will definitely be booking again for the summer

Beautiful and peaceful location

The cottage was absolutely gorgeous and the interior design is really stylish. One thing that really stood out for me was the glass ceiling so that we could watch the stars before we went to sleep. We will definitely be back. :-)

Great place to chill and relax, read a book, go in the hot tub, play games, cook, sit by the fire and enjoy.
