Seaside-chic and in an enviable position, this lovely family homestay is a calming, gorgeous bolt-hole for those wanting to wake up to the sound of the pull of the waves over pebbles and the salty sea breeze drifting through the window. Ideally located in the sought-after hamlet of Seatown a few minutes' walk from The Anchor Inn, this is a delightful spot for a beachy holiday with Dorset's iconic landmark the Golden Cap and the breath-taking Jurassic coastline right on your doorstep.

Living

Taking inspiration from the sea, light blues and whites flow through this stunningly renovated barn, offering a spacious, calming and welcoming retreat. With reversed living to make the most of the views, the open plan living space with vaulted ceiling and gorgeous wooden flooring will delight, whilst the relaxed living area and floor to ceiling glass doors that fold back from a Juliet balcony of reinforced glass draw in the sights, sounds and scents of the sea are just perfect! We adore the tucked-away play area too, stacked with books, games and toys to keep little ones entertained.

Eating

Paired back and beautiful, cooking is a delight in this stunning kitchen! Set along one wall of the living space, the layout is chic and easy complementing the large farmhouse table that invites lazy breakfast get-togethers and laid-back evening dinners. Fully equipped with all the top mod cons as you would expect plus a super-cute Smeg fridge and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine, every meal will be a celebration in this house.

Alternatively, stroll along to The Anchor Inn where their award-winning menu awaits you. Settle in for a delicious meal washed down with a bottle of fantastic wine and great sea views, all just a few minutes' walk from the house.

Sleeping

Found on the ground floor, the bedrooms offer a blissful escape at the end of a busy day. With thick grey and white striped carpets leading from room to room, you'll find one tranquil double bedroom with double bed and gorgeous en suite with a superb shower, a tremendous twin bedroom and a lovely occasional room with single bed. All beds are swathed in gloriously sumptuous linens and bedding to ensure a blissful nights' sleep.

Bathing

The family bathroom has a fresh contemporary feel with a bath and hand-shower attachment, easy to use for a quick refresh after a stint on the beach ahead of a long soak at the end of the day. The en suite has a delicious separate shower and both rooms have towel rails to keep your towels nice and toasty. You will find cotton spa gowns and slippers with your towels to wander around in.

Larger parties

The Beach House is situated next to Seatown Farmhouse, making it a perfect option for groups of up to ten people - ideal for a group of friends or multi-generational holidays. Get in touch if you would like to book both properties.

Garden

There is a lovely garden outside for you to relax in, with a wooden deck leading to a small lawn.

Thatched roof

Due to the thatched roof The Beach House is a non-smoking property and smoking is not permitted in or within the boundary of the property. It is a condition of the owner's insurance that the barbecue provided remains on the paved area by the well and must not be sited under a gazebo or on timber decking. Further to this the lighting of any candles, bonfires, or the use of firepits or chimineas is not permitted. Thank you for your understanding.

Parking

You can park right next to The Beach House as there is off-road parking and a gated driveway for one car plus there is an additional private space opposite The Anchor Inn.

Dogs

One dog is welcome at The Beach House. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.

Child friendly

A travel cot, high chair and stairgate can be provided on request, please bring along your own bedding for the travel cot.

In the Area

Seatown is an exceptionally pretty location, nestled on the beautiful Jurassic coastline. With walks on your doorstep - such as up the impressive Golden Cap, and with the beach and The Anchor Inn just a few steps away, there's no need to get in the car if you don't want to. However, if you fancy exploring a little further, a trip to The Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock, River Cottage HQ on Trinity Hill just outside Lyme Regis and the Mark Hix Oyster & Fish House overlooking the harbour in Lyme Regis are a must!

This thatched beauty, just steps from the beach in Seatown, is a light, airy escape perfect for families wanting a luxurious, beachy retreat.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about The Beach House, Dorset:

Pretty perfect cottage - enjoyed it loads

Gorgeous cottage, beautifully appointed, with all home comforts provided. Even our little dog was well provided for. As we stayed in the Autumn, some trees had shed their leaves and we were able to see the turbulant ocean through the upstairs window! (Storm Ciaran provided us with dramatic entertainment). As we had to delay our original booking due to pending surgery, staff at Boutique Retreats were so helpful in assisting us. Thank you all so much for making our holiday so memorable. We thoroughly recommend you!!

Fantastic cottage in a wonderful location

You can publish the fact that this location is second to none and the walks round the area are superb. We saw a pod of dolphins off the Seatown beach on day 3!!

A beautiful property in a perfect location. So relaxing and peaceful. Lovely garden. An idyllic stay, would highly recommend

Great location, everything you need for a stay.

There are lots of thoughtful touches like the games for children to play, the dog wash and the welcome basket. Really lovley!

This cottage was a fantastic home away from home. Super comfortable and really well appointed. I would definitely recommend

A fabulous house in a wonderful location. Close to the beach, great walks and a really good pub.

We had a great 4 day break which was very relaxing. Home from home really!

This is a superb holiday home especially when booked with Seatown Farmhouse.

We spent a lovely long weekend here. The cottage has an amazing location right by the beach and we ate twice at the Anchor Inn up the road, which serves great food and overlooks the sea. We also did the walk up the hill opposite the cottage - recommended in the house book - which had beautiful views along the coast. Our little boy loved the big garden and the toy corner!

Amazing location and accommodation, will certainly return

Fantastic location, so close to the beach which wasn’t too busy in comparisons to other beaches nearby. Great house with everything we needed.

The location was amazing with lovely walks close by.

This retreat ticks all the boxes. It is just a half a minute's walk to the beach and the Anchor pub. The garden is lovely and secluded and is a real sun trap. The interior is very spacious and everything is catered for including the supply of umbrellas for those rainy days when you have to take the dog out!

The location sells this property. It is a fantastic spot - beautiful beach walks and v. close to a great pub but you know this already.

Stunning property and location

Amazing space, really well appointed. Everything you needed was there, very impressed.

It had everything we needed & more, my favourite thing is the amazing location. It’s less than a minutes walk to the beach (you can see it from the window!) It was so lovely being able to take dinner down to the beach to watch the sunset, we’ve never been able to do that with the girls!

They’ve thought of everything for families – We didn’t need to pack half of the things we did! They provide baby monitors, highchair, cot, potties et. – They’ve even got a corner full of toys! There’s also lots of books, games, DVD’s & a Nintendo wii too.

The Location is just amazing too, it’s surrounded by the most amazing beaches and so much to do for families too.

Here’s some of the beaches we managed to explore – There are loads we didn’t get to see!

? SEATOWN BEACH IS WHERE THE COTTAGE IS (PEBBLE)

Recommend the The Anchor Inn – It’s right on the beach! The beach is on the South West Coastal path, really beautiful & peaceful. Gorgeous sunsets. £5 parking all day. Easy with the pushchair to reach.

? LYME REGIS BEACH (SAND ONE SIDE, PEBBLE THE OTHER)

Lovely flat promenade good for pushchairs, easy to park 2 minute walk away from the beach. Lovely harbour, shops, pubs, restaurants, arcade, gardens all within walking distance. Great for a day out!

? HIVE BEACH (SANDY PEBBLES)

Gorgeous cafe called the Hive Beach Cafe – We took our brekkie onto the beach! Easy to park & walk with the pushchair. National Trust parking.

? WEST BAY (PEBBLE)

Another flat promenade good for pushchairs, easy to park 2 minute walk away from the beach. Lovely harbour (pictured) shops, pubs, restaurants, arcade all within walking distance. The walk down to the beach was quite steep, so not great for a heavy pushchair like ours, but we carried it down! We ate a lovely meal at @cherriesicecreamparlour.

? BEER BEACH (PEBBLE)

A little further away from the cottage at 30 mins, but it’s right next to a little miniature railway we took Arla to called Pecorama. Lovely beach with lots of boats, you can hire one if you fancied! Quite big pebbles so not great with a pushchair, we carried it on.

We’ve had the most amazing week here, I’d highly recommend Boutique Retreats – The customer service is amazing from start to finish!

Lovely location and suited us brilliantly!

Amazing location, lovely garden, comfortable cottage, well-equipped. Great welcome hamper, thank you!

Great location and spotless cottage

Lovely cottage with a winter view of the sea from the lounge. Well equipped with a very comfortable interior. Great walks with the dog from the cottage including the beach during the winter months. The local pub only two minutes walk away was very handy for Sunday lunch.

A lovely cottage for a family holiday, a short walk to the beach to enjoy the stunning Jurassic coast or a beer at the Anchor Inn. No sea view but the French doors of the first floor open plan space open to let in the sound of the waves. Many thoughtful touches in the house that make it feel like a home away from home.
