In the Area
The Georgian House is set on the High Street of the picture-perfect village of Castle Combe in Wiltshire. Full of quintessential Cotswolds magic, the village's historic streets are lined with golden stone cottages that capture both the eye and the lens with their aesthetic charm. Stroll out of your luxury retreat and explore the village, before heading to The White Hart pub next door, or The Castle Inn opposite for hearty feasts. For delectable brunches and afternoon teas, The Manor House Michelin star restaurant is less than 200 yards away, while The Salutation Inn is but 1.5 miles away and offers further choice of delicious food and drink. For the crème de la crème, you can't beat Lucknam Park just 4 miles away, the spot to savour Michelin star dining within an opulent setting.
To uncover fascinating secrets about the village's rich history, the local St Andrew's Church with its working Medieval clock and Warhorse exhibition is well worth a stop. Or, to retrace the footsteps of time and the silver screen, visit the National Trust-run Lacock Abbey. Located 9 miles away in Lacock, this 13th Century abbey is where Harry Potter and the much-loved period drama Downton Abbey were filmed. For walks, the village is laced with a network of weaving footpaths and trails that are wonderful for gentle strolls, while for something a little different, you can polish your swing at The Manor House's Golf Club. It's also a great idea to keep an eye on Castle Combe Circuit's line up of events for adrenaline-fuelled entertainment, car shows and vintage celebrations.
