Mousehole Christmas Lights

Mousehole Christmas Lights

The Mousehole Lights switch on signals the start of the start of Christmas. Fabulously festive the local tradition is one worth donning your woolly hat and thermals and heading down to the cute-as-a-button harbour. There is no big switch on this year, but you can still look forward to the beautiful illuminations lighting up the village and harbour.

Mousehole is famous for a few things, but the two things that are quintessentially ‘Mowzel’ are the Mousehole Cat and the Christmas lights.

No self-respecting visitor to the harbourside village should potter round without having read the beautiful and magical tale: The Mousehole Cat by Antonia Barber. Keep a look out for the real Mousehole Cat whenever you are there…

The lights however are easier to spot. Organised by the village, monies are raised throughout the year so that the annual spectacular raises the Christmas bar time and time again. The lights that illuminate the harbour are utterly magical and truly not to be missed.

Let the festivities commence as the Christmas lights twinkle over the boats bobbing in the harbour. The lights will be on each evening between 5pm and 11pm from usually from mid-December until the beginning of January.

Bring flasks of hot choc - stuffed with marshmallows - down to the harbour front and kick start your countdown to Christmas.
